The XXL cover always seems to bring some controversy when it is finally released to the public. Much of the debate dwells on an artist not belonging on the cover. Usually because said person never heard of the artist, which does not make their selection to the cover any less valid. This year was a little different as many were confused by the inclusion of Kidd Kidd, mainly because he is far from being a freshman.
[Tweet “While there are some deserving people on XXL cover, obvious more deserving ones are excluded. Why is that?”]
Kidd Kidd is probably best known for being on Lil Wayne’s ‘Mrs. Officer’, that song from 2008 that was big hit? Kidd Kidd was on that. He also has been signed by 50 Cent since 2011 and has actually released a full album. So how was he considered a freshmen? That is the question the world wants to know and XXL claims that Kidd Kidd was picked by the fans for that 10th spot. Well Twitter is a good source of the public perception and they let it be known about how they felt about Kidd Kidd.
Kidd Kidd is accompanied by K Camp; another guy who been out for awhile, Dej Loaf, Vince Staples, Tink, GoldLink, OG Maco, Raury, Shy Glizzy, and Fetty Wap. The list always gets people buzzing one way or another.
Next up, is there a conspiracy as to why some of the dopest latino rappers being excluded from mainstream media coverage?
