Yesterday marked the one year since Micheal Brown was murdered by police officer Darren Wilson. Brown was another unarmed black man and the subsequent events from his body laying in the street for hours to the announcement that Wilson would face no charges led to protests and some uprising.

His murder still resonates strongly in the hip hop community and Talib Kweli the Action Support Committee held a free benefit concert called ‘Ferguson is Everywhere’ at Fubar in St. Louis, Missouri. The lineup included Common, Bun B, M1 from Dead Prez, Rapsody, Tef Poe, Kendra Ross, Rebel Diaz, Jasiri X, Immortal Technique, & Pharoahe Monch. The event was held by Tory Russell from Hands Up United. All the donations went to the Micheal Brown family.

It is important to remember what happened to Micheal Brown in Ferguson because it was not an isolated event. Unarmed black people have been and continue to encounter a different side of law enforcement that can only be described as sickening and frightening.
