The east coast versus west coast rap beef that was heavily promoted in the 90’s is well-known for ending with the deaths of the great Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. Many of the huge rap stars of today grew up in that era and few were beginning to breakout during that time, most notably Jay-Z. Hov’s career has had so much longevity that people may forget how close he was to B.I.G., they attended high school together after all.

Well DJ Clark Kent who was very instrumental in putting Jay-Z on early in his career revealed on ‘A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal’ podcast that Jay-Z was about to get much more involved in the beef between B.I.G. and Tupac. He says Jay not only had a record against Tupac but they performed it once at the Apollo and that is was a scathing diss song.

Jay did a record going at Pac but right as it was about to go out, son died. We performed it though. We was at the Apollo. It was… scathing. Crowds was like, oh shit. It was super hard. If he was alive there would have been no coming back.

It is interesting to think what would have happened if these two were to actually go all out against each other. We know what Pac had to say about Jay-Z thanks to ‘Ether’ by Nas but a Jay-Z response would have been something to hear even if he did not have the status he does now.
