More details are beginning to come out about what made Vester Lee Flanagan aka Bryce Williams murder local Virginia News Reporter Allison Parker and Cameraman Adam Ward on live television. Williams recorded the shooting and live tweeted the aftermath.
According to ABC News, a man claiming to Bryce Williams had been calling repeatedly for a few weeks wanting to pitch a story and wanted fax information but never told what the story was. The fax would arrive at 8:26 a.m. which would have been two hours after the shooting. He then called again at 10 a.m. introducing himself as Bryce and his legal name Vester and said he had shot two people and authorities were after him.
What seems to have sent over the edge was the Charleston church murders. Williams wrote:
Why did I do it? I put down a deposit for a gun on 6/19/15. The Church shooting in Charleston happened on 6/17/15… What sent me over the top was the church shooting. And my hollow point bullets have the victims’ initials on them.
He addressed Dylan Roof, the shooter in the Charleston church killings and expressed admiration for the Virginia Tech and Columbine High School killers.
As for Dylann Roof? You (bastard)! You want a race war (bitch)? BRING IT THEN YOU WHITE …(motherfucker)!!!…Also, I was influenced by Seung–Hui Cho. That’s my boy right there. He got NEARLY double the amount that Eric Harris and Dylann Klebold got…just sayin.
He referred to Seung-Hui Cho as ‘his boy’ and that Jehovah spoke to him telling him to act. ABC says that Williams calls it a suicide letter, meaning he probably planned on taking his life. They also say the letter consists of him rambling to law enforcement, friends and family. Williams says he suffered from racial discrination and sexual harassment and being attacked for being a gay, black man. The attacks came from black men and white females he said.
Yes, it will sound like I am angry…I am. And I have every right to be. But when I leave this Earth, the only emotion I want to feel is peace….The church shooting was the tipping point…but my anger has been building steadily…I’ve been a human powder keg for a while…just waiting to go BOOM!!!!
