Jay-Z tweeting is about as rare as the blood moon, so when his account updates it is usually something big or interesting. Well the news was a mixture of both, as Jay announced that Tidal was officially platinum, reaching a million subscribers.
"Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists" Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting. Let's celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn.

Now the second part of his message is open to interpretation. Could October 20th be a special concert in Brooklyn? Or maybe it could be that highly rumored collaborative album with his wife Beyonce’? Either way the news is great for Jay-Z and company as Tidal started off rocky. Many people wrote it off because of the high price points and no free membership option, a choice that Spotify has and they are the number one company in the music streaming world.
Tidal also saw its CEO leave in April, followed by the departure of other high-ranking positions. Tidal’s promise to pay artists a bigger piece of the cash pie for streaming of their music was what drew groans from the people as it meant they would have to pay for a subscription. It was critiqued at their launch press conference which featured many A-list musicians. All of which are owners in Tidal, such as Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Usher and Coldplay.
The service has provided exclusive content such as live concerts, music premieres and even ticket giveaways. The future of Tidal is still uncertain, as everything is, but it appears to still be headed in the right direction without looking back.
