Daniel Holtzclaw, the ex-Oklahoma City cop who had an appetite for raping black women in a neighborhood he was assigned to patrol found out what his fate was today as Judge Timothy Henderson gave Hoytzclaw the maximum sentence to run consecutively on all 18 counts that he was convicted of for raping multiple defenseless black women.

Before the judge handed down the stiff sentence, he allowed some of Holtzclaw’s victims to deliver their impact statements. 58-year-old Jannie Ligons who was the oldest rape victim stated to the judge:

“My daughter and sisters are frightful when a police car pulls up behind them,” said Ligons, one of the few victims who has chosen to identify herself, before the sentencing.

“It’s been hard on my family. It’s been hard on me,” the 17-year-old victim told the court. “Every time I see the police, I don’t even know what to do. I don’t ever go outside, and when I do I’m terrified.”

In a last-ditch effort by Holtzclaw attorney, a motion for a new trial was filed alleging that the prosecutor didn’t disclose all DNA evidence but the judge denied motion saying that it lacked the evidence. Holtzclaw was convicted by an all-white jury.

Former New York City cop Justin Volpe, convicted of Sodomizing Abner Louima

Fun Fact: The last time a judge sentenced a police officer to a lengthly sentence for a sex crime was in New York City when former Brooklyn cop Justin Volpe was convicted of sodomizing Haitian American Abner Louima inside a Brooklyn Police station. Vole was sentenced to a 30-year prison term and he is serving it inside a federal prison. Holtzclaw will likely serve his sentence inside a federal prison as well because cops convicted of crimes are high targets for assaults.
