(ATLANTA, GA) — On Friday, July 22, 2016, The City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs hosted ELEVATE: Summer, a one-day event that featured performance art, dance, music, public art installations, an artist market and food trucks. Performers included:
- Poetry Slam Inc’s National Poetry Slam Atlanta groups: Art Amok, Java Monkey, Fountain City (Brave New Voices team) and Just ‘N Thyme
- Uma Pulendran
- Ajmal “Mas Man’ Millar
- Mausiki Scales & the Common Ground Collective
- Speakerfoxxx & Bosco
Public art installations were created by local South Downtown art organizations Murmur Media, Broad Street Visitors Center, Mammal Gallery, Eyedrum Music & Art Gallery and Downtown Player’s Club.
The Office of Cultural Affairs also announced the theme for the annual ELEVATE fall program scheduled to take place October 13th – 21st, 2016 at South Downtown (Broad Street SW). This year, ELEVATE’s theme is ‘Microcosm’ and will be curated by Allie Bashuk, Monica Campana, Pastiche Lumumba and Mark DiNatale.
