After a whirlwind start to the summer that saw the brand extend its reach to New York and LA, the Passport Experience Festival (#PXPFest) is gearing up for the second installment of its marquee event, the ground-breaking day-long celebration of international music happening August 13, 2016 at Atlanta’s historic Centennial Olympic Park.
Presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire, the 2016 Passport Experience Festival will see Senegalese-born international superstar Akon return as the event’s host, presenting over 20 artists and DJs from across the globe taking the stage for Atlanta’s only truly international music festival.
This year, PXP Fest welcomes international reggae star Shaggy and rising Hip-Hop star Rich Homie Quan as headliners. The concert will also feature performances by Soca artist Olatunji, Nigerian stars Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage, Virgin Island-bred duo R. City, Nigerian American newcomer Wurld, and 2015 PXP Fest featured artists Dreggae, Karlon, 2C and Shane Talon; as well as DJ sets by African DJ/Producer Maphorisa, PXP Fest founder Fully Focus andDJ Baby Drew.
In 2015, DJ Fully Focus set out to create an event that was truly representative of Atlanta’s rapidly changing status as a global city. With over 725,000 foreign-born residents, the Georgia capital boasts the 11th highest such population in the U.S. “We celebrate diversity & cultural pride,” says Focus. “Nowhere else can you get all your favorite genres on one stage. It’s been tailored for the open-minded music fan.”
The inaugural PXPFest also offered attendees the opportunity to make a lasting difference by contributing a portion of tickets to support Akon Lighting Africa. The events organizers are hoping to beat last year’s contribution of $4,000. Tickets for the 2016 Passport Experience Festival can be purchased at PXPFest.com.
