Kendrick Lamar and SZA have finally dropped the music video for the soundtrack’s lead single, “All the Stars.”
The colorful majestic, like the movie dripping with African culture, was directed by frequent K. Dot collaborator Dave Meyers and the Little Homies, the footage is stunning from start to finish: From Kendrick, standing majestically on a wooden boat over a sea of people, SZA floating on a brightly patterned river, surrounded by African dancers dressed as flamingos. In the video’s most direct shoutout to the movie, Kendrick is seen walking with a pack of black panthers the video also shows the rapper strolling through ornate rooms of gold, going before 4 giant women before cutting to SZA dancing among a field of stars, which from afar form the continent of Africa.
The soundtrack, featuring songs from and inspired by the movie, was curated by Kendrick alongside Anthony Tiffith and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, and includes songs by the Weeknd, Travis Scott, Khalid, Vince Staples, and 2 Chainz. The album drops Friday.
