Getting his start at a studio inside the Boys & Girls Club of America, Bay Area rapper Lil Yase was able to escape the troubles of growing up in San Francisco’s Sunnydale Housing Projects.

Surrounded by gang life, shootings and mass drug usage like many other rappers growing up in low income areas, Lil Yase turned to music to escape his troubles. Finding a path with his Get Dough Affiliates, Yase fueled his passion for music by never forgetting where he came from and what it was like living in the projects.

“The Boys & Girls Club had a studio that I would find refuge in. It gave my mind a chance to dream of bigger things to come,” Lil Yase explained of introduction to recording at the community resource center.

The jump start at the Boys & Girls Club of America ignited a fire inside Lil Yase that would eventually lead to him touring all over the world with artists like Fetty Wap, E-40, Mozzy, Young Thug and most recently the Day and Night Festival.

It was just a few years ago that Lil Yase was a mainstay on Fader’s website, garnering a host of post on each release.

Culminating with the release of his EP the Winners Circle, Yase linked up with several big name acts for the release of this project like Gunplay and Bay Area mainstay J. Stalin.

Now after premiering his album on HotNew HipHop, Yase is making sure the whole world knows about his story as he prepares for the release of two videos from the project, directed by King Looi.

For any fans looking to catch Lil Yase live in concert, be sure to check him at 4/20 Fest in Fesno, CA this month with his Get Dough Family.

Continuing to give back to the fans, Yase has also prepared some merchandise as he hopes to make a push for the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.
