After struggling with substance abuse for a while, Mac Miller has died from a drug overdose. Authorities found him at his home in San Fernando Valley, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. A male friend of his placed the call, that led the police to his body.
Mac Miller has dealt with substance abuse for years, an issue that came to light after his breakup with Ariana Grande. Back in May, he was arrested for DUI and Hit and Run after wrapping his car around a pole. Then, he fled the scene and ended up confessing at his home where he blew 2x the legal limit.
He detailed his drug use in the 2014 mixtape “Faces” and also raps about premature death. Furthermore, he’s quoted stating he feels like he’s under enormous pressure from the public eye. Something that can be hard to cope with, without the right mechanisms.
Mac was set to start touring next month. His last Instagram post was of the song “So it Goes,” and is a brooding melody that almost sounds ironic in the wake of his death.
