A$AP Rocky has now canceled all of his tour dates for the month of July as a result of his recent detainment in Sweden.
The rapper is being detained while prosecutors determine whether or not to charge him with assault, after a video surfaced the internet of A$AP and his team beating two men in the streets. Rocky claims the two had been following and harassing them for some time, and that the actions were in self-defense. Jail conditions for Rocky are rumored to be inhumane and unsanitary.
The 30-year-old rapper has already missed shows in Noway, Poland and the United Kingdom as a result. Additionally, he was set to perform yesterday in Moscow, Russia. Rocky has also had to cancel his Splash! Festival appearance in Germany which was set for this Friday, July 12, as well as other events in Italy, Belgium and the Ukraine. It is unclear when or if he will be released form the Swedish jail.
A member of Rocky’s team made a statement to Barcelona’s Sonar Festival this week.
“A$AP Rocky is being detained in a Swedish jail for an unknown period of time for acting in self-defense during an altercation that took place,” he said. “Due to the unfortunate situation he is forced to cancel his European festival and tour dates in July.”
If convicted by Swedish prosecutors, Rocky could face up to six years in prison. Click here to watch the video of the altercation.
