Salt-N-Pepa’s DJ, Spinderella, recently filed a lawsuit against the two for numerous unpaid royalties and appearances, however her claims may not be as accurate as they seem.
In the lawsuit, Spinderella claims that she was swindled out of large amounts of money, starting back in 1999. Additionally, she claims she was promised to receive $125,000 (a third of the royalties) for the group’s Best Of album, but did not. She said the group also left her out of many gigs and appearances before she was kicked out of the group.
However, Salt-N-Pepa’s team said the two ladies feel as though the lawsuit is a result of Spinderella’s own insecurities and that most of her claims are false, according to TMZ. The group claims Spinderella believes she was the third wheel ever since the Salt-N-Pepa Show on VH1 back in 2007, as she was only a featured guest. Sources from TMZ state that producers of the show did not want her involved, and that it was out of Salt-N-Pepa’s hands.
As for Spinderella’s remarks about the group’s 2018 Billboard Music Awards appearance, Salt-N-Pepa state that no member of the group was paid for that performance, and that Spinderella was aware of this arrangement beforehand.
