Sha Money XL has left the building.

50 Cent’s former G-Unit business partner and manager Michael “Sha Money XL” Clervoix has stepped down from his position at Def Jam as Senior Vice president of A&R and is now calling Epic Records home.

The veteran music executive has been named EVP of Urban A&R for Epic Records and will oversee artist development and certain aspects of their recording processes, as well as being tasked with further development of Epic’s urban roster.

In a statement, Epic chairman and CEO Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid spoke of his new all-star recruit stating,

“Sha Money has time and again proven to be a cultural leader and has my complete support in ushering in the next generation of hip-hop stars.”

His work with 50 Cent speaks for itself but Sha Money XL was also responsible for signing Big K.R.I.T. and 2 Chainz to Def Jam and played a hand in their mainstream success.

Sha added,

“As I embark on this new Epic journey, I have a great vision for what the new record industry should be like, the music, the experience and lifestyle.”

Looks like Epic is making a power play to become a Hip-Hop powerhouse.
