Last week in Atlanta, people gathered at Opera Nightclub to attend the “Respect The DJ” event. This event provides DJs a chance to listen, learn, network and performed amongst their peers. The event is geared towards building a bridge between various music genres and features a talented collection of Atlanta’s top DJs. The “Respect The DJ” event includes a live DJ battle, artist showcase, FIT Radio Awards, and the Innovator Awards. However, the highlight of last night’s event was honoring International DJ/Artist’s LiL Jon and DJ Nabs. The “Respect the DJ” award winners included DJ Montay, Baby Yu and Mike Mogill. The event’s lineup of host DJs was very impressive as it included DJ Jelly, Dj Scream, 2nd Nature, Zero, DJ Sense, DJ Toomp, Euphoria, Sofa King, Silver Knight, DJ Mars, Martina McFlyy, Murgatrod, Kid Cedek, Blk Morris, DJ J1, J Envy, and Rasta Roots. Before the group of honorees accepted their “Respect the DJ” Innovator Awards, guests in attendance experienced a live showcase by the legendary DJ Nabs as well as a star-studded tribute video highlighting LiL Jon’s success and influence in the music industry.
Another standout highlight of the evening was the DJ battle with special guest judges Speaker Foxxx, Heroes x Villains, Jus Clay, Hapa Scratch Academy, and Kawan “KP” Prather of Atlantic Records. The winner of the epic battle was DJ Time One and for his victory he took home the title and the $1000 grand prize.
