The College Football Hall of Fame opening date has been finally announced. The announcement came on Thursday.
The opening of this new Atlanta landmark will take place on Saturday, August 23. The costs of the construction of this facility was close to $67 million.
The College Football Hall of Fame relocated from South Bend, Indiana due in part to lackluster attendance at the old location. It was decided five years ago by a National Football Foundation to relocate to Atlanta, a much bigger city.
This new building in downtown Atlanta will display some of the most monumental pieces of archives and plaques of some of the greatest football players ever to compete collegiately.
The 94,000-square-foot building will open just days before the college football season is to begin at the Georgia Dome. Those matchups include: Ole Miss vs. Boise State on August 28 and two days later the first ever football matchup between Alabama and West Virginia.
Chick-Fil-A will be the top sponsor of the new College Football Hall of Fame facility.
