Love & Hip Hop star Erica Mena took her frustration out on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy after a few comments were made about her fiance Bow Wow on the radio show. Charlamagne went after Bow when comments were made about the hit FOX show Empire which stars a predominantly black cast during an interview with Jermaine Dupri’s Global 14.
Slamming the rapper, who started his career as a rapper/actor playing those exact stereotypes in his roles like Madea’s Big Happy Family and Like Mike. Charlamagne called him a hypocrite because of his new role on CSI: Cyper that gave Bow the opportunity to step away from urban entertainment and make comments about an African-American show like Empire.
Bow claimed that the show stereotypes African-Americans because all of the character’s involvement with the music industry. “But we all don’t rap or play basketball. We can do so many things. There are young African-Americans who are intelligent enough to work at the FBI. That’s what’s so bright. Hopefully, I can help start a new wave of young black actors who don’t want to stereotype themselves.” says Bow.
Erica responded to the radio hosts by tweeting:
“Bitch Boys in the morning @cthagod @djenvy Be Smart. It’s way to easy to kill you both with the truth. Don’t forget ask Envy my bullets kill.”
“You should always choose your battles wisely. It’s way too easy to F?!? up someone’s world with the truth.”
“You remember getting beat down on Commercial break! Leaking blood just for going to the corner store! Well, according to STD Envy!”
“It’s best to start focusing on controlling your eczema along with Envy putting your business out instead of running your mouth.”
Regardless of what Black America thinks of Empire, the 2-hour season finale was this season’s highest viewership, becoming the highest rated scripted broadcast program of the 2014-2015 television. Either Black America is stuck on stupid or the show does strike a chord with many from the community. Whatever the case, both Shad “Bow Wow” Moss and his future gangsta wife Erica Mena does have a right to their opinion as well as the Breakfast Club.
