Celebrity A-lister, Sanaa Lathan, has signed on with Codeblack Films to executive produce and star in the feature film presentation of the Flyy Girl book trilogy.
The Flyy Girl books were written by New York Times bestselling author Omar Tyree. The first of the trilogy of books was published in 1993 and republished for adults in 1996. The original book was a hit and is often considered to be the genesis of the modern urban literature movement. The first book was followed by it’s sequel Flyy Girl: For the Love of Money (2001) and a third book, Boss Lady (2006).
Lathan is an award winning actress who is known for her roles in The Best Man, Love & Basketball, The Best Man Holiday, and Brown Sugar. She also has an upcoming release titled, “The Perfect Guy” and will star in Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me 2.” In the Flyy Girl movie she will be playing the role of the pretty, intelligent, and sassy mouthed Tracy Ellison.
Academy Award winning writer, Geoffrey Fletcher, is being brought on to the project to write the script. He will help bring the story to life by writing a script that will detail Tracey’s story. Tracy Ellison is a workaholic but she is also a successful business woman who is caught up in the belief that money is always the key to happiness. In the midst of a mid-life crisis, Tracey is forced to find herself, figure out her relationships, and redefine her meaning of success.
