Since December 2014, Bobby Shmurda has been in jail awaiting trial for conspiracy, drugs and weapons possession. The trial is not set until January of 2016, bringing up the question why has Epic Records, Shmurda’s label have not bailed him out and allowed him to just sit there?

Epic Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid sat down for an interview with Rap Radar podcast and responded to the criticisms that they have left Bobby to waste away in jail:

It made me feel like people don’t know anything about my business. It’s really not their business. That’s the truth about it,” said Reid about the critics. We’re not elected officials here, and we’re not at liberty to disclose how we do business.

He also said the situation was unfortunate for the young rapper and that he has better days ahead. He could have better days at the moment if he was anywhere besides jail. When record executives get together with these streets rappers and promote and glorify their image, they need to be held accountable when some street issues happen to come up.
