“His name will sit alongside the greats whom lost their lives to push our culture forward”- Jay Z

JAY-Z spoke at the Trayvon Martin Foundation’s sixth annual Peace Walk and Talk in Miami earlier today. During his speech, he said, “we want to make sure that we stand and support and never forget that Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to the people out here. So you guys never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through.” Jay spoke fondly on the man (Trayvon) who would have been 23 years old last week. “His name will sit alongside the greats whom lost their lives to push our culture forward—the Martin Luther Kings, the Gandhis. That’s the intention we set so his name will serve as a beacon of light and hope to push our culture forward in a better direction.”

The rap mogul is the executive producer of an upcoming feature-length narrative film and a six-part television docuseries on Trayvon Martin’s life and the events surrounding his senseless murder on February 26, 2012.

In March 2017 Jay Z won the bidding war for the screen rights to two books that are the foundation of 2 film projects. ” Why We Continue to Repeat It” will be a film; and “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin” will air on the Paramount Network.
