Hundreds of protestors took to the streets in Atlanta to protest the death of unarmed people of color that has occurred in Atlanta and across the state of Georgia. In an official press release obtained by Hip Hop Enquirer, organizers stated the following:

Social justice organization IFightForMyPeople is calling for action from state and local officials in their fight for justice for the overwhelming amount of police brutality cases that resulted in fatalities in Atlanta and the surrounding cities.

The organization along with Alliance for Black Lives, S.M.A.R.T, Justice Fighter, Black Lives Matter, New Black Panther Party, Shar Bates, Yonasda Lonewolf, Leak Speaks and a coalition of activists and organizations from the southeast will occupy 17th street bridge in Atlanta at noon August 24, 2018 in an effort to bring awareness to what prosecutors refuse to deal with.

IFightForMyPeople is expecting the arrival of government officials in Atlanta to hear the demand of the families who have lost love ones.

Ms. Tynisha Tilson, the mother of Shali Tilson who died while in the custody of Rockdale County Sheriff’s Facility stated that she came out to speak about what happened to her son as well as discuss the importance of training those in law enforcement on how to deal with people who suffer from mental health. Shali Tilson was arrested on March 3rd of this year by Conyers Police Department and taken to Rockdale County jail where he was found dead inside a cell.

No one has yet to be prosecuted for his death. Witnesses have came forward to state that they saw Mr. Tilson being beaten by detention officers. One witness stated that a guard weighing approximately 250lbs punched Mr. Tilson in the head where he collapsed. The next day the witnessed learned that he was dead.

We spoke directly with Rockdale County District attorney Alisha Johnson who stated that Mr. Tilson’s death is still under investigation.

Organizers have also stated that there are more protests being planned in the very near future.
