Singer Chris Brown recently released his newest double album, Indigo, on June 28 which has since hit No. 1 in the Billboard 200.
The album has had more than 96,000 album equivalent units sold, with 16,762 of those coming from pure album sales. Brown has previously hit No. 1 with his albums F.A.M.E. in 2011 and Fortune in 2012.
Despite sparking major controversy for a lyrics in his song Need a Stack, where Brown states that he only like black girls with “nice hair”, the album has still reached the top spot. Brown is no stranger to controversy and accusations of colorism, however his music still continues to break records.
Other albums which debuted that same week and made the top 20 include Mustards Perfect Ten which hit No. 8, OASIS by J. Balvin and Bad Bunny at No. 9, and Daniel Caesar’s Case Study 01 at No. 17. Additionally, Lil Nas X was able to maintain his No. 2 spot with his 7 EP, while Gucci Mane’s Delusions of Grandeur fell from No. 7 to No. 36. Lastly, Chance the Rapper’s 2013 mixtape, Acid Rap, was recently re-released and made its way to the No. 5 spot.
Singles from the album Indigo include No Guidance which features Drake and has so far peaked at No. 9 on the music charts, according to Billboard’s website. Songs ahead of the single include, Sunflower by Post Malone ft. Swae Lee at No. 8, Sucker by the Jonas Brothers at No. 7, Truth Hurts by Lizzo at No. 6, Señorita by Shawn Mendes ft. Camila Cabello at No. 5, I Don’t Care by Ed Sheeran ft. Justin Bieber at No. 4, Talk by Khalid at No. 3, and Bad Guy by Billie Ellish which sits at No. 2.
