We have just received word that there is a hot and steamy sex tape purporting to be of rapper Nicki Minaj. According to our source the tape is of a younger Ninaj with two other women which was allegedly taped when she was in her early twenties.

We are told the person who has the tape in their possession is looking to get seven figures for it and has already received offers to debut the tape on a popular porn site. Scandalous! Let’s just say if the tape is as hot as rapper Eve’s was with former boyfriend Stevie J. then Nicki Minaj is definitely on her way to bigger things. Remember Eve went on to do several movies and also had a popular television show.

Priscilla Renea – Come to Her Doll House

Priscilla Renea
Priscilla Renea

A high placed industry executive contacted us one day and stated that they wanted me to listen to this 21-year-old recording artist who they believed was the next biggest superstar. I was a bit reluctant at first because I hear this all the time from new artists and their management so I just told them “send me their EPK” and I will listen to it when I had the time. We don’t usually get excited about an artist the way she was carrying on about this young lady so I had to really sit down and see what all the hype was about. Sure enough their depiction of this incredibly talented young lady was a understatement. Her sound was fresh and really fun to listen to and definitely the type of music I could see my teenage daughters playing in their stereos.

Priscilla Renea is a YouTube sensation and she tells us how she used the Internet and ingenuity to garner attention around her project. She explains how she began uploading videos to YouTube just after Justine Timberlake did the “My Grammy Moment” contest, which she entered, and although she didn’t win the contest, she was determined to make her mark. It wasn’t until 2006 when she uploaded another video where she performed the song “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” which was from the Dream girls soundtrack. She stated the video received hundreds of thousand of views, which convinced her that this was the best way to promote herself. “When a new song would come out I would be one of the first to record a video for it so when someone went to look for that artist’s version, they would find my version and I continued to do this for a year.” Although this was an unorthodox method of promoting one’s music it clearly proved to be successful for Ms. Renee.

Realizing that she had to keep her momentum flowing she sang the first five pages of the dictionary and uploaded it to YouTube. She then wrote an anonymous letter to the editor of YouTube and said “Hey there’s this girl and she is really cool and her name is Prescilla Renee and she is singing the dictionary and you should check her out and add it to the front page of YouTube.” Well the next day when she woke up she boasts that she had over a million messages in her mailbox from people telling her she was featured on YouTube. From that little stunt her myspace and YouTube pages skyrocketed with high numbers for over a month until one day she received an email from Rico Collins inquiring whether she had management or not and at some point he flew her to Atlanta to meet with Kenny Cole who she began writing songs with and someone she became very close to like a brother.

Jay Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys Among Top Nominees At BET Awards

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - November 3, 2012

Leading the way with BET nominations this year is, unsurprisingly, Jay Z. The rap star exceeds all other artists with five nominations: Best Male Hip Hop artist, Best Collaboration (with Alicia Keys for “New York State of Mind“), Best Video (both for “Empire State of Mind” and “Run this Town”), and Viewer’s Choice for “Empire State of Mind.” On the other hand, many fans of the songstress Monica has been airing their disappointment that she was not nominated for the top spot. There are many who believe the singer and BET reality star should have been an easy shoe in to compete with the likes of the other nominees rather than be nominated for the Viewer’s Choice Award.

One person who we always felt was deserving of an award for her constant grind and relentless determination  is Atlanta’s own Rasheeda as she is in the Best Female Hip Hop category.

The Dream & Mariah Carey Accused of Stealing Song

0
The Dream
The Dream and Mariah Carey

A Bay area producer has accused The Dream and Mariah Carey, two of the most recognized names in music of hijacking his song and he has filed suit in federal court to get some justice. After listening to both songs there appears to be a similarity however there are many factors that could have played into this happening.
According to the lawsuit, plaintiffs Preston Marshall and Demario Driver present a fairly standard-order Music Industry Bigwig Rips Off The Little Guy story (though most lawsuits don’t have “aka Symba” next to the plaintiff’s name, as is the case with Driver).

Here’s the story in one breath: Farmer and Symba cut the song “Are You The One” in Farmer’s Oakland recording studio in 2008. Future co-defendant Jeff Huffman of Real Content Media liked the song, and said he would like to get big-name people to co-produce it. Farmer claims that after he e-mailed Huffman various versions of the song, the marketer suddenly stopped returning his messages. Then Farmer heard Carey and The Dream singing “My Love” on Dream’s “Love vs. Money” album. The plaintiffs claim this is their song – and they want at least $450,000.

The suit claims the songs “contain identical melodic coding and the same harmonic protocols that are readily discernible to the human ear”. In other words, they sound alike. A lot! In addition to Huffman and Carey, the suit names The Dream (real name: Terius Youngdell Nash), Island Def Jam Music Group, and others.

According to the lawsuit, when Farmer asked Huffman “Why did you steal my song?” the response he was given was “We can work this out.” Apparently not.

Finally, in an almost certainly unrelated note, Carey is not a stranger to San Francisco District Court. There is a 2008 case in which one Mariah Carey filed an “injunction prohibiting harassment” against Fifty Cent – listed as Cent, Fifty in court records. It was denied. And Carey’s home address is listed as 1001 Polk – the Episcopal Community Services transitional shelter – so we don’t think these are the Mariah Carey and Fifty Cent here.
