The Hip Hop Enquirer is happy to introduce you to the fabulous vixen Christina Granville. You may recognize her from several basketball videos of her scattered across the Internet, or from her relatively popular YouTube channel. Christina has been modeling for over six years and has no intention of slowing down now, especially now that she has relocated to Atlanta.  Check out her interview below where she shares her love for God, basketball, hard-bodied men and positivity.

HHE: First off, you are a very beautiful woman and I understand why our editorial team has selected you for the next Hip Hop Honey.

What school did you attend and what did you study there?

CG: I went to St. Leo’s university and I studied business management and got a degree in business management.

HHE: You recently relocated to Atlanta, which is perceived to be the mecca for black entertainment. Was that one of the factors that played into your move?

CG: Yes I’m trying to get into acting and rebooting my modeling career, so Atlanta was one of my choices.

HHE: How do you keep your abs so perfect, what’s your workout routine?

CG: I used to do cross fit. Cross fit is really really really good, if you’re trying to get abs, trying to get in shape. I did cross fit and me playing basketball, so I was always doing cross fit and lifting weights and a lot of running so that’s basically what I did a lot of running and cross fit.

HHE: Can you also share some of your beauty secrets?

CG: Oh wow beauty secrets! Good God! I [barely use] makeup. What I use for my face, my whole entire body, I love to use organic shea butter, because I got this Jamaican rough skin, I need to put some moisture in it. Organic shea butter is fantastic for skin and I use for my face… its from The Body Shop, all their products are organic all natural no crazy stuff in it, and I love their vitamin C citrus scrub.

HHE: What is your horoscope?

CG: I’m a Capricorn.

HHE: Because of social media, like Instagram, everybody calls themselves models, what sets you apart from the others?

CG: I am transparent, I’m not one of those that’s going to put on “oh I’m a model, I’m a model,” that’s not what its about. Being a model for me is more than just taking pictures, its more than just putting on clothes and running down the runway that’s what I’d really love to do. However, its more being a model and you have to take that word and create into something that’s positive you have to be a role model. You have to be the blueprint for other people, younger kids, younger women or other women looking at you and you to be an influence. I’m totally different from the regular average model; I really try to encourage different people, that’s a boy or girl to be themselves and if its on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter, whatever I’m doing, I’m always going to be Christina [who plays basketball] or whatever the case may be, I’m going to be me regardless, everywhere I go and through my Instagram you can tell. When I meet people they say, “Oh my God, you act just like your Instagram” or “you look just like your Instagram!” I’d go “well what you thought?” you should want to be so transparent so that when people meet you, they’ll say, “Oh this is the girl that’s in the pictures, this is the girl that’s selling my brand. This is the girl that’s representing for females that’s trying to get into the industry.”

HHE: Based on this conversation and your YouTube channel, we can tell that you’re hilarious, besides YouTube, what do you do for fun?

CG: I play basketball, so that’s my main thing, that’s my fun “fun”. I’m still a little tomboy, I love to ride four wheelers, and dirt bikes, I love to Instagram, I love you tube.  I always doing something fun, because I have a great time with myself, it could be just me by myself with my imaginary friends and we have so much fun. My family they are a bunch of fun, that’s another thing I really have fun with. I’m very adventurous; I really like going places and traveling and playing basketball.

HHE: Ok so I’m about to go up in your grill right now, are you single?

CG: But of course I am.

HHE: What are some of the characteristics you look for in a man?

CG: Oh God, oh yes!  He has to be God-fearing, because I’m very spiritual. My dad is a bishop, so I try to find positive [things] in a man, like my dad. He’s a great example of what my man should be. I want somebody that’s into God, hilarious, they have to have a great sense of humor, he has to be goal oriented, adventurous, and into working out, very conscious about their health, I love beautiful teeth, I like people to smell good, a nice body and someone that’s really about building and making somebody better.

HHE: Is it really important that the guy is as athletic as you are?

CG: Yes he has to be athletic.  I need my man to be sexy; I don’t want everybody just to be looking at me! I want to be like “yea look at my dude, he’s fine!”

HHE: When do you feel most sexy?

CG: I feel most sexy, I think, when I have on my basketball shorts and sports bra, oh gosh I feel like the baddest girl in the world.

HHE: Tell us what is the sexiest thing you have done with your partner.

CG: “Hmm let me think, I ain’t had no partner in a while,” she joked. I think when I gave him a hot body oil massage and I rubbed his feet and then I did a little dance for him with my little cute outfit on.
HHE: I’m gonna give you two options and you just pick one, Ok?

CG: Ok

HHE: Flowers or perfume?

CG: Hmm that’s a hard one. I’m going to say flowers.

HHE: Designer shoes or fresh sneakers?

CG: Ooh that’s hard because I’d get both. Lets say affordable shoes.

HHE: Donna Karen dress or designer jeans?

CG: I’ll say jeans.

HHE: Instagram or Twitter?

CG: I like to Instagram all day.

Well it’s official, Paris Hilton just dropped a sample of her new song with Lil Wayne — in which the two gloat about being hammered — and … well, it’s actually not completely terrible.

The song’s called “Good Times” — and it features the following verse from Weezy:

“I’m f**ked up … I can’t tell you what’s what.
All she know is suck, f**k.
I walked up to a big butt, and asked her ass but what …
Tunechi never slacks without her button up.”

As for Paris — the newest artist on Wayne’s Young Money label — she “sings” the expertly written hook … which goes:

The 8th annual BET Hip Hop Awards weekend took place this weekend starting on Sept. 26th with CRATEMASTERZ in part by Monster. CRATEMASTERZ , an exclusive live DJ concert series, kicked off the weekend at Vanquish Lounge in Atlanta, Ga.

The event featured top DJs from across the country and relaunched actual DJing and its transformation throughout the years.

Kid Capri, DJ Aktive,DJ Bee, DJ Baby Yu, DJ Jelly and DJ Diamond Kuts performed for an an audience. The music played also featured vinyl to vinyl serato, and scratching to blending.

Guests were treated to Courvoisier Rose, C by Courvoisier, and Courvoisier Gold cocktails compliments of Courvoisier and  Courvoisiology – redefining the way cognac should be made and enjoyed. 

Nina Simone’s Estate is suing the phone company, HTC, for using the instrumental’s of “Sinnerman,” one of Simone’s greatest hits.

The late Simone, one of the greatest Jazz singers and pianists, released that hit in 1965 and carries an unmistakeable beat.

Her estate is suing on the grounds that, HTC, of course, didn’t obtain the rights to use the song in their commercial.

“Sinnerman,” was previously sampled by Kanye West for Talib Kweli’s hit “Get By.” West obtained the proper clearance.

Also recently,  Zoe Saldana completed a film as Simone and received some mixed thoughts on the actress being picked for the role.

The Green carpet at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards was popping with designer clad Hip Hop artists, reality stars, and more, in Atlanta, Georgia at the Atlanta Civic Center. Check out the hotties who showed out on the green carpet.

MC Lyte was cool and casual in her black and white ensemble.

Nelly followed the casual trend with his black and yellow sweatshirt and the inclusion of his signature grills.

Kevin Hart kept it clean with a white Kenzo ‘Eye’ Sweater

Snoop  donned a bandanna print shirt.

B.O.B followed Snoops lead with a pair of bandanna print  Cupcake Mafia’s Trill Joggers.

Eve kept it classy in this black mini sequined dress.

The Versace boys showed up in … well, Versace.

Lola Monroe showed off her post baby body in her sexy leather outfit.

The BET Hip Hop Awards 2013 took place on Saturday Sept. 28th at the Atlanta Civic Center for another staging of mostly cyphers and performances.

Only three awards were presented during the show, A$AP Rocky won the award for the Perfect Combo category for “F*ckin’ Problems” which Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz accepted in his absence. Drake won the People’s Champ category with “Started From the Bottom,” and  A$AP Ferg won the Rookie award .

Host, Snoop Lion/Dogg, we’ll just call him Snoop, hosted the show with finesse and popped in a few jokes here and there along with a few skits with the help of friends. Skits included Snoop at a card table with Daz, Snoop as a DJ, Snoop as a commentator with Kevin Hart’s alter-ego Chocolate Drop.

The “Real House Husbands” cast had their own cypher, along with newbies Action Bronson, Rapsody, Astro and Asia Sparks. Slaughterhouse also made an appearance and delivered crowd appreciated freestyles.

Kendrick Lamar committed fully to his cypher and brought his “Control” persona for the ride and acknowledged the responses other rappers made to the verse.The scantily clad Rick Ross performed the Mastermind single “No Games,”

Future performed his new single “Sh!t,”

and Yo Gotti performed his club banger “Act Right.” 

ScHoolboy Q, who was introduced by Snoop as one of “three artists bringing soul to hip-hop,” performed his recent drop “Collard Greens.”

 French Montana graced the stage later and performed the remix to “Ain’t Worried ‘Bout Nothin'” with Rick Ross and Diddy, who had a minion bring his gold crown out on a red cushion, clearly a tongue-in-cheek nod to Kendrick.

2 Chainz’ performance was even more creative than last year.

“As the song starts with him arguing back and forth with his mother, he’s in his bedroom on one side and a woman donning a housecoat and haphazardly placed sponge rollers is in the kitchen on the other side. He quickly moves from this to run off stage and change outfits. 
“Go DJ” starts blasting from the overhead and Mannie Fresh saunters out onstage with unbridled confidence. 2 Chainz reappears with five dancers, kicking off the first verse to “Used 2.” 2 Chainz left the dance moves to them this year — which was disappointing. Everyone knows the best part of a 2 Chainz performance is watching him dance erratically, but he made up for the lack of dancing on his part by having Juvenile come out for a quick set. Juvie performed “Back That Ass Up,” paying homage to the flow that inspired the “Used 2″ track.” –Billboard

And Of course, the much talked about, anticipated category, I Am Hip-Hop Award went to MC Lyte, after a montage featuring Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith who spoke about the respect they had for her throughout the years. Presenting the award was rapper, Eve. MC Lyte accepted her award with a speech and made mention of her new venture Hip-Hop Sisters Foundation.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony also performed and belted out hits like “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” “1st of the Month” and “Crossroads.”

The 2013 Hip-Hop Awards airs Tuesday, October 15 at 8pm EST.

Damon Dash II, son of Damon “Dame” Dash, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records  was arrested on Sept. 24th. He has reportedly been charged with misdemeanor assault and strangulation in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood.

The altercation, which took place on Sept. 22nd, happened when the couple had an argument about sex.

“She was visiting him at his apartment, he got violent with her, starts to punch her, slap her and shove her onto the bed, got on top of her, he grabs her by the throat and chokes her,” said an unidentified police officer.

It is reported that they briefly reconciled, but then fought again, which prompted the victim to call the police.

“Dash climbed on top of her and “placed both of [his] hands around [her] neck and squeezed tightly,” to the point where she had trouble breathing, according to the misdemeanor complaint against him. “He did get physically violent with her,” the source added. “She suffered bruises, a black eye and a cut lip.” Her neck was left with red marks, the complaint alleges.” -NY Post

Dash was arraigned three days later and signed an order of protection that bars him from contacting the victim.

He has been released without bail.

Cobb County NAACP has committed support to the protests against Chuck E. Cheese, which takes place early today at 11:30 a.m. outside Chuck E. Cheese on Cumberland Boulevard, Atlanta, Ga.

The rally is in support of the family of 9-year-old Marley Eschoe, who attended another child’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in May. Marley’s father, Mark Eschoe, who brought Marley to the party, was not allowed to take her into the only available restroom. Little Marley suffers from lupus and had just recently been released from a three month stay in the hospital after suffering her second stroke in eight months.

Her father was denied access to the empty female restroom and was told he would have to take her to the men’s room even though it was overcrowded. The father also requested that a female employee stand by the door as a lookout while he took his daughter into the female restroom, and that was also denied by Chuck E Cheese management.

Management was informed of Marley’s condition, management’s response was  “I don’t care if she has special needs, I’m not going to treat her any differently from my other patron. I’m done with you.” Soon after management threatened to call the police to have Mark Eschoe removed from the property.

“I am father who is there for my children and to see the callous and insensitive way Chuck E. Cheese treated my baby and I is disturbing”  On Saturday, we want parents to bring their kids so we can show this corporation that special needs kids matter too, that Marley matters too,”said Mark Eschoe.

Former Union City firefighter, Justin D. Corley, has been charged with receiving child pornography, and was sentenced to five years in federal prison.

On February 7, 2012, federal agents conducted a search at Corley’s home in Newnan, Ga. Agents seized his laptop and completed a forensic examination of Corley’s laptop revealed that he had in excess of 9,000 photos and videos of child pornography.

“This defendant collected a large number of horrible images and videos portraying the sexual abuse of young children. The fact that he apparently traded some of these images with other collectors while he was on duty as a municipal firefighter is particularly troubling,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. “Mr. Corley has justly earned a significant sentence for his role in victimizing these children and by violating his public position.”

Corley  was sentenced by United States District Judge Timothy C. Batten, Sr., to 15 years of supervised release, after his five year stint in federal prison, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,000. Corley was convicted on these charges on July 9, 2013, after he pleaded guilty.

“In November 2011, the United States Department of Homeland Security/Homeland Security Investigations (DHS/HSI) initiated a peer-to-peer file sharing operation in an effort to identify people in the Atlanta area who were involved in receiving or distributing child pornography via the internet. HSI investigators determined that Justin Corley made child pornography files available to other collectors using a wireless internet protocol address assigned to the Union City (Ga.) Fire Department. On January 19, 2012, a federal agent downloaded files containing child pornography from Corley who was then using an internet protocol address associated with a family member.”-United States Attorney Yates

The case, prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brent Alan Gray, is being investigated by Special Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. This project is a nationwide initiative put together to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

Kanye West went on another rant bashing talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, for his recent spoof of the interview Yeezy did with Zane Lowe. Kanye tweeted his displeasure with Kimmel jeering the interview, he felt to be serious in nature.

After the rant, which could be deemed as degrading, Jimmy Kimmel responded on his talk show , The Jimmy Kimmel Show, last night. Kimmel read the tweets Kanye made live on his show and then revealed bits of the phone conversation they had before Kanye’s rant.

“He told me on the phone and I swear to God this is true, ‘I am the most powerful voice in media. I am Pac.”

Kanye also tweeted that Kimmel can’t put himself in his(Kanye’s) shoes because that would mean his sex life would be better. Kimmel then returned the punch below the belt, when he said he “saw the video,” we assume, referring to Kim Kardashian’s sex tape.

Kimmel went on to poke fun at Kanye’s other tweets. What will be Kanye’s reply?

Chaka Khan stopped by the Upper Crust Restaurant to celebrate her 60th birthday. Her visit airs this Saturday on “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s,” which is the Upper Crust’s show on OWN. The St. Louis-based eatery owner, Miss Robbie Montgomery, and her staff welcomed Chaka Khan with a soulful “Happy Birthday” song, along with cake and friendly chatter.

“It’s wonderful to be able to host special occasions like this,” said Miss Robbie, who will be celebrating a birthday of her own on an upcoming episode. “This is exactly what I was thinking about when I opened up the Upper Crust a year ago.”

Sweetie Pie’s was founded after Miss Robbie’s singing career in the 1960’s, as backup singer and Ikette, ended after she suffered a collapsed lung. The weekly show depicts the management of Sweetie Pie’s at the Mangrove, Sweetie Pie’s Upper Crust and the original Sweetie Pie’s. The latter was established in 1996 by Miss Robbie, who now runs it with her son, Tim.

Yesterday in New York, 350 people attempted to twerk their way into the record books. Their only task was to twerk for two long, awkward minutes to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The dance ‘twerking’ has now been attributed to Miley Cyrus after her “We Can’t Stop” video was released.

Young, old, male and female came out to attempt the cringe-worthy feat. Watching it can create a shiver of embarrassment for those involved, we can’t begin to imagine participating. Some however enjoyed it, as a 73-year-old woman claimed to actually like the dance.

“It was a wonderful experience today” she said.

“I went to buy sheets in Macy’s and they let me in and I’m just dancing my life away here”.

“It was just great” she added.

Maybe she hasn’t seen real booty shaking twerking before, because the video depicts people bouncing up and down, rather than actually participating in hip gyration.

Hip hop legend Bun B is making a strange, but positive connection with the Houston Symphony for a rare collaboration at Jones Hall for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Houston in Concert Against Hate.

The new partners will take center stage on Nov. 14th  for a one-night event which will honor Houston civil rights leaders and prominent education reformers.

After the proud announcement, Bun B raved to CultureMap about his upcoming symphonic, hip hop-esque debut.

“It’s about carrying the message of the ADL,” the rapper said. He also added that he’s written original lyrics for the performance to highlight the ADL’s century-long battle against intolerance. “I look at it as an opportunity for hip hop culture to join in that fight.”

Bun B is excited about the prospects of showing hip hop in a different light, versus the reputation of promoting violence.

“The Art Of War Of Art 2”, presented by The World Wide Arts Federation (WWAF), is the return of the 2011 art battle series featuring WWAF founder and visual artist Fabian Williams. The event will be held on October 25th at Stuart McClean Gallery in Atlanta, at 8pm.

The presentation will allow guests to experience performance art by witnessing artists display their alter egos through Kung Fu/Black Exploitation satire. Known artists such as Fabian Williams, Maurice Evans, Charly Palmer, Katie Gago, CP The Artist, Torry Holmes of City Of Ink and many more will be featured at the event. There will be live entertainment, art pieces and merchandise available for purchase.

This event will be in correlation with the A3C Hip-Hop Festival, who have partnered with WWAF to include art in their hip hop event. The WWAF is currently the high standard to beat for high quality live performance art in Atlanta,.

WWAF, which was founded in 2009, is the creation of visual artist, Fabian Williams, and was inspired by many different things, specifically the colorful personalities of wrestling. “WWAF is a place where local artists can exhibit their alter ego as well as their artistic abilities in an environment that embraces individuality”, said Williams. He created an “Art Battle,” which is a competitive performance art series that depicts the satirical gestures of today’s society. Artist must talk trash, paint, and talk more trash.

Last month, photos of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were being passed around, which indicated a budding hook-up between the two, but get your mind out of the gutter. The two were only cozying up for their latest video which premiered last night on “106 and Park.”The new video, titled “Fashion Killa,” features A$AP Rocky taking his high maintenance girl shopping in the stores a regular girl would only dream about. High-end designers like Prada, Gucci, Helmut Lang, Cartier and Alexander Wang were simultaneously given shout-outs.

The main chick is played by trouble maker, island gal RiRi. A line in A$AP’s song undeniably justifies her presence in the video.

“Her attitude Rihanna, she gets it from her mama,”

A$AP appeared on BET’s video countdown show “106 & Park” to premiere the video for “Fashion Killa.”  A$AP previously collaborated with RiRi on the track “Cockiness” and brings the sexual tension back in this new video, much to the delight of fans.

The track is A$AP’s fourth released single from his debut album “Long Live A$AP” which comes out January 15th.

Kanye West recently visited Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show where he lived up to his usual controversial nature calling out the industry. Kanye spoke about how a creative, such as himself, may be stifled by an industry that isn’t welcoming to innovation from a black man.

“We got this new thing called classism; it’s racism’s cousin. This is what we do to hold people back. This is what we do. And we got this other thing that’s also been working for a long time, where you doing have to be racist anymore; it’s called self hate. It’s works on itself; it’s like real estate of racism,” West explained.

The G.O.O.D. Music founder talked about the expectations that people have of a black rapper, saying that when he calls himself a god people are upset, but they seem to be okay when a black rapper calls himself other black-associated names.

“Would it been better if I had a song that said, ‘I am a n***er?’ Or if I had a song that said, ‘I am a gangster?’ Or if I had a song that said, ‘I am a pimp?’,” he questioned.

Kanye also addresses how people are ok with a rapper extending his creativity to making T-shirts, but if they venture elsewhere, they’re shunned.

“We’re making product with chitlins, T-shirts, that’s the most we can make, T-shirts. We can have our best perspective on T-shirts, but if it’s anything else [hand clap], the Truman Show boat is hitting the wall.”

Kanye, who calls Rap music the new Rock n’ Roll, also talked about his highly discussed sixth studio album, “Yeezus” and it’s artistic difference from other rap albums.

“I’m not here to make easy listening… easy, programmable music…”I’ve got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down. I’ve reached the glass ceiling as a creative person, as a celebrity,” West explained. “I’ve been at it for 10 years. And I look around [and] I say, ‘Wait a second. There’s no one around here in this space that looks like me, and if there are, they’re quiet as f**k.”

Lupe Fiasco returns this week with another free track called “Pound Of Flesh/Paris Tokyo 2.” Lupe samples the Boi 1da-produced beat from Drake and Jay Z’s song “Pound Cake” from the “Nothing Was The Same” album that dropped yesterday.

The controversial artist’s rendition is a sequel to “Paris, Tokyo” from his debut album Food & Liquor. Lupe’s release has come shortly after the remix, “Hood Cake,” done by The L.O.X. (Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch).

Lupe released his last studio album “Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1” a year ago, but has, over the past several weeks, been releasing a few songs like the Kendrick Lamar response track “SLR 2,” “SLR 3 (Round of Applause),” and “Peace of Paper/Cup of JAYZUS.”

V.S.O.P.  singer K. Michelle is going to have to fork up in excess of 52k to the Internal Revenue Service after claiming that she didn’t earn enough in 2008 and 2009 to justify paying the government that sizable amount of money.

Her exact total owed is $52,415.09 and the government is coming with a vengeance for K. Michelle, whom they served a tax lien on her assets.

If you can remember, 2008 was K. Michelle’s bust out year when she signed with Jive records. She put out “Self Made” and “Fakin’ It” with Missy Elliott in 2009. K. Michelle was unheard of until she resurfaced in 2010 with her single “How Many Times.”

This year has been good to K. Michelle as she is pretty hot right now. She is currently signed to Warner Bros. Records, and with her stint on “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” and her new album “Rebellious Soul,” and its successful hit “V.S.O.P,” there’s no stopping her now, well with the exception of that nasty little debt.

Drake appeared on “Chelsea Lately” with Host Chelsea Handler last night to promote his new album, “Nothing Was The Same” which is out today, September 24th.

Chelsea, who flirted with Drake in her usual dry comedic way, spoke to the Canadian born artist about his role in “Anchorman 2” and how he scored it. They discussed the resemblance the character has with the ‘baby Drake’ on his album art and then joked about Beyonce’s baby, Blue Ivy’s, resemblance to the rapper. 
The comic filled interview revealed a little into the Drake/Rihanna rumored remix relationship, which he says is way in the past. He suggested that he already “penetrated” Rihanna and that he’s looking for somebody new to penetrate. Drake also talked about his need to express himself on the album, which explains the limited artist features. Perhaps he was referring to her mind?

The short chat didn’t bring up how he feels about the opinion people have of him as the “softy” of rap or the meme jokes on Instagram or Twitter. The interview was all-round fun and light and it’s cool to see Drake a little less melancholy.

Atlanta rapper, Future released the video for his new hardcore single “Sh!t” from his new album, “Honest” which will be out on November 26 via Freebandz/Epic Records.

Future raps completely, and subtracts his sporadic crooning for this new single which has instrumentals produced by Mike Will Made It. The video, directed by Alex Nazari, has Future and his goons driving around late at night professing basically that some people are all talk and he’s the real deal.

The BET Hip Hop Awards, which will be held on Tuesday, October 15,  promises to be a good show this year. Apart from the obvious reason for the show -the awardees, the performances are usually hot topics of the night.

This year’s first confirmed performers will feature rapper and game changer Kendrick Lamar with his Black Hippy members Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock. Along for the ride is Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz and Bad Boy recording artist French Montana.

This year, Snoop Lion will be the host of the show and says he’s looking forward to it.“I’m excited to be hosting this year’s ‘BET Hip Hop Awards 2013,’ ” said Snoop.  “We’re going to have fun this year and I will make it a show to remember, ya dig?!  I’ll be giving a ton of surprises, showcasing my exclusive GGN News clips and bringing all my nieces and nephews to the stage for an exciting night of hip-hop.”

In addition, Hip Hop legend MC Lyte will also be honored with the “I Am Hip Hop Award.” MC Lyte will join the ranks of Nas, KRS-One, Russell Simmons, Ice Cube, Salt-N-Pepa, and Rakim who previously won this award.

Just days after his new single “Fresh Out Da Pen” debuted, Ja Rule is coming at us with another hit “Eerrthang.” The Queens rapper isn’t holding out on this new track, as “Eerrthang” is an in-your-face statement boasting his lifestyle. “Bitch, I’m ‘eerrthang,” raps Rule.

Ja Rule’s first post-prison interview happened this week at Hot 97 with Angie Martinez. “A lot of people think I was angry at the fans,” he said about his pre-prison meltdown. “But I wasn’t as much as angry as I was hurt. I did a lot for my fans. I really love my fans. It was really a weird time for me and out of that came the anger and then I went into a dark place and everything was dark for me. Everything I wanted to do was just angry. It wasn’t fun anymore.”

Today promises to be a great day for Black America. These are the sentiments of organizers of the event, A New Paradigm ForBlack America- Brooklyn, at the Medgar Evers College,Brooklyn, N.Y., which will be held today.

Some of the sharpest minds in Black America will “converge to present concrete, directly implementable ideas for positive change in our families and communities.” This community of people will gather for their second stop in Brooklyn to decipher plans to strengthen wealth, education, family, and community in Black America.

“Black leadership doesn’t start with the people you see on TV or politicians on Capital Hill.  Black leadership actually starts in your living room,” said Dr. Wilmer Leon, political science expert.

The group has made efforts to use socially-conscious business models to share knowledge to attempt to create a better future for the children.

The DVD, which follows the event, will feature exclusive interviews with the panelists and behind the scenes footage of the event and can be pre-ordered now. Sabi, singer, songwriter, and actress and artist on the rise has released the video for her single “Cali Love” featuring Tyga. The California native, formerly known as Jenice Sab-bion Dena Portlock, is now ssigned with with Prescription Songs and Warner Bros. Records.

“I’m a pop artist, but I want to bring some rawness and urban swagger to the table,” Sabi said on her website. “I’m really inspired by artists like Lauryn Hill, Bat For Lashes, Florence and the Machine, and Lykke Li. They are strong women with a unique point of view who have something substantial to say.”

Sabi started her musical career as a part of the rap duo, The Bangz. After her counterpart was badly injured in a drive-by shooting, Sabi started her solo career as a featured artist, recording and touring with Britney Spears and singing the hook on Cobra Starship’s 2011 hit “You Make Me Feel Good.” The 25-year old will release her long-waited debut EP Cali Love in October.

BET Network presented the 17th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival last night at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan. Opening the festival was the lively screening of the anticipated romantic comedy “Baggage Claim.”

Director David E. Talbert presented the film along with his wife and executive producer, Lyn Talbert. Cast members, which included Paula Patton, Derek Luke, Jill Scott, Jenifer Lewis and Rickey Smiley, were also at the festival and participated in the post-screening Q&A which was moderated by entertainment editor of The Grio, Chris Witherspoon.

Stacy Spikes, the founder of Urbanworld, welcomed the audience and the executive director, Gabrielle Glore followed up with remarks.

The after-party featured performances by Luke James, Yummy Bingham and more. The Urbanworld Festival continues today with spotlight screenings of VH1’s “Funding The Funk, They Die By Dawn” and BET’s “Gun Hill” starring festival ambassador Larenz Tate.
