The organization in solidarity with , Justice Fighter, #MalcolmLutherQueen, Yonasda Lonewolf, Street Groomers, and a coalition of activists and organizations from the southeast, are making a statement by occupying Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta today. In an effort to bring awareness to what IFightForMyPeople feels has gone largely ignored by government officials and the Atlanta PD.

IFightForMyPeople is expecting the arrival of government officials in Atlanta to read and distribute their demands.

“Bulletproof” was among the list of fire tracks, and the artist has finally released a video for it. Needless to say, he took this precious time to address the ongoing beef he has with Tekashi 69. If you’re unaware of what going on between the two here’s a play by play. YG said “F*** 69” on Twitter, then proceeded to say he meant what he said on the Breakfast Club. Tekashi, being the king of the internet trolls, of course too time out his day to respond. He told YG to “suck his d***” and accused “Big Bank” of flopping compared to “FEFE.” YG came back with some serious pedophile rhetoric, referring to his open case. Then there was radio silence until now.

YG spent the whole first minute of his video depicting Tekashi 69 in prison, getting the real deal. You can hear the word “pedophile” ringing out in the background. He even places the picture above on the screen before beginning the song. So there’s no room to guess who he’s talking about.

Things look like they’re starting to heat up again. 69 hasn’t responded but I doubt the king of trolling is going to let this one slide.

6LACK has spent some time in these past few months building the anticipation for the album. He started off by mailing his fans postcards of the cover art. And ended by partnering with Lyft to give fans the chance of a lifetime, to have a V.I.P. private listening.

Following 2016’s Free 6LACK, East Atlanta Love LEtter has some big names on the track list. He shared with us “Nonchalant” and “Switch” before the drop of the album. But left us waiting for the collaborative tracks with J. Cole, Future, Offset, and r&b ally Khalid. Produced by the likes of Bizness Boi, Joel Little, and Stwo, the album features a signature mix of r&b, hip hop, and rap. All areas where 6LACK exceeds expectations.

6Lack has described the album as being a love letter to his friends and family, as well as his current and past lovers. In it, he takes the time to open up about love and empathy. 6LACK Mode will become available in the Lyft app on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. EST. Those fortunate enough to be matched with a ride in 6LACK Mode will get the chance to attend a private listening and visual experience at Atlanta’s Starlight Drive-In Movie Theater. Riders will get a V.I.P. experience free of charge and a ride in a luxury vehicle where they’ll enjoy the listening from once they arrive.

For those in midtown, downtown or east Atlanta can access 6LACK Mode and select the Starlight Drive-In as their destination once it becomes available. For general fans in Atlanta, the first 150 vehicles will get access to the listening event.

The album which includes J. Cole, Offset, and up and coming r&b artist Khalid will be released on Sept. 14. In celebration of the album, 6LACK will also take over Lyft’s app on Sept 21. But for those who are dying to get in on the action today here’s exactly how you can.

Atlantans can choose a special “6LACK Mode” on the Lyft app Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. (availability to passengers in Downtown, Midtown and East Atlanta neighborhoods).

How to Request a 6LACK Mode Ride:

1) Open the Lyft app and enter Starlight Drive-In movie theater as the destination.
2) Swipe right to request 6LACK Mode from the menu.
3) If matched with a driver, you (and up to three friends) will be picked up in a luxury vehicle and will receive exclusive merchandise before arriving as a VIP guest.

T.I. announced his 10th studio album “Dime Trap” will be coming out this year. “Jefe”, the track featuring Meek, features a Mexican cartel style vibe. Complete with a mariachi type beat,  Dia de Los Muertos makeup, a gun standoff, and sombreros, “Jefe” shows off its Hispanic flair. Check out the video above.

The 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards nominations are in, and Drake and Cardi B took the cake this year. Drake is nominated for 11 awards, including MVP and album of the year. Cardi is right behind him on nearly every category. Proving her breakout album to be a caliber of work no one was expecting. Other notable artists on the list are Childish Gambino, who’s nominated for 6 awards, coming in right behind Cardi and Drake. Also, XXXTentacion, who died earlier this year, is up for the best new artist. And Blocboy JB who is also up for the best new artist, and best collab with Drake for “Look Alive.”

The awards ceremony comes back to The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami.

BET will premiere the annual telecast on October 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

Last week on her Queen radio show, she brought up the trending topic of Geoffrey Owens working at Trader Joe’s. Owens, who used to be an actor on the ‘Cosby Show’, was working as a cashier (see above) at Trader Joe’s. He says it was devastating at first because it appeared that the photo was taken with malice, in attempt to job shame him. And though he mentioned he’s been acting small roles, teaching, and directing it hasn’t been enough to make ends meet. But despite the intent of the photographer, the support from fans and actors alike has been overwhelming.

Nicki Minaj was among the supporters of Owens for hustling on the side, and in between gigs. On her show, she devoted to helping Owens out with $25,000. However, the actor has yet to see the money. Minaj has said she’s been having trouble reaching out to his team, which is why there’s been no exchange. But Owens’ team hasn’t gotten anything from Minaj, they haven’t even heard from her. That actor said he’s not looking for a handout, and if she decided to make good on her promise, he’ll probably donate it.

But even without Minaj’s money, Owens will be doing better for himself sooner than later. He accepted Tyler Perry’s offer to join the cast of “The Haves and the Have Nots” (see above). The show will start filming next week, and he’s on for 10 episodes. Owens also landed a part “NCIS: New Orleans,” so he’ll be back on our silver screens in no time.

In between that time, people were coming to both of the rapper’s defense. There have also been other artists coming out of the woodworks, to qualify what Cardi said in her statement. Nicki remained silent, released a music video, and kept it pushing.

But on episode 8 of Queen Radio Nicki had the time. She famously started the “C**ksucker of the Day” after Charlamagne said his piece about Nicki ranting on other artists. We can guess who got it this week, following the altercation which Nicki describes as “mortifying”. On this episode of Queen radio, Nicki uses Cardi’s own words against her. She brings victims of Cardi’s clapbacks to the podium to give their two cents. And she outright says Cardi built her whole career off “sympathy and payola”, accusing her of pay for play. But she doesn’t stop there. She brings up other victims of Cardi’s apparent “postpartum depression” outbursts. Warning her that starting the right beef with the wrong people could land her in a grave. Nicki Minaj went back to her mixtape roots with this one. But instead of naming up and coming rappers, like she did in the original ‘Dreams’, she name-dropped some of the biggest artists out there.

In the video, she makes these men into puppets. Its fun and very colorful. I counted at least 4 wigs, all of them varying shades, and a few outfit changes. In the wake of the Cardi B incident, it looks like Nicki is still all business.

It is reported that Cardi B approached Nicki Minaj not looking for a fight, but rather to address rumors she’d been spreading. When Cardi got up to the table she was elbowed in the face. According to sources she came up a little too aggressive, and security took matters into their hands.

But it didn’t stop there. As we know, Cardi is really bout that life. After things got physical with Minaj’s security, Cardi B went off. She’s recorded calling Nicki a b** and making multiple attempts to get at her. At this point the crowd had come between the two rappers, preventing anyone from causing any more damage. But that didn’t stop Cardi from repeatedly trying to get her shots in. She then threw her shoe, a famous move she also pulled at a Love & Hip-Hop reunion. The shoe missed the target but at that point, Cardi was being escorted out of the building.

Cardi posted this on Instagram following the fight.

It seems there are some things going on behind the scenes that we’re unaware of in this case. Either way, we’ll have to see how this unfolds. Two of the hottest female rappers in the game at each other’s throats is bound to be some good entertainment. Check out the clip from the fight below.

It looks like Young Thug is being charged with a remarkable amount of felonies. Eight to be exact. Stemming from his arrest last year in Georgia for tinted windows and guns, the charges have finally stuck.

According to documents, he’s charged with possession and intent to distribute meth, hydrocodone, and weed. In addition to those, he’s also charged with possession of amphetamine, Alprazolam, codeine (2 counts) and a firearm. For a grand total of eight charges.

He’s still on the hook for the gun charge he got at his album release party. So, there may be more to come.

Jason Whitlock doesn’t seem to think he’s holding the cards though. In the interview below he calls Kaepernick a “pawn in a game he doesn’t understand.” Claiming it’s a just all a PR stunt, that will eventually backfire.

He goes on to say that the left is using Kaepernick to “bring down” the NFL, because of what it represents. Likening the sport to the head of a snake, that people are trying to chop off. Saying it symbolizes “toxic masculinity.” I don’t want to be too opinionated but he talks about this like it’s a bad thing. Like removing the roots of a poisonous tree would harm our society. Toxic masculinity is just that. Toxic. So I can’t understand where he’s coming from, and neither could Van.

Pressley stepped up to the plate in one of the most tumultuous political climates. At a time when people are demanding change, she is promising to do just that for her constituents. She calls for actions like the impeachment of Trump and the demolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Pressley states “this district and these times demand more than just an ally, they demand an advocate and a champion.” By shaking the liberal ground she has held true to her slogan “change can’t wait.”

Pressley is joining the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who ousted the Democratic House incumbent in New York, and Andrew Gillium who beat the odds for governor in Florida. Both of which, overcame the obstacle of being the underdog. Furthermore, by expressing herself as very liberal and outspoken, she sets herself apart from the previous Representative.

J. Cole has finally released the lineup for his first ever Dreamville Festival. Though many of the names are no surprise. There are some artists that may come as a shock to Cole fans.

For the festival, he’s included musicians from his own label like Bas, JID, Earthgang, Cozz, Lute, Ari Lennox, and Omen. And on top of that lyrical powerhouse, he’s thrown in some big names like Nelly, Big Sean, and more notably Young Thug, who is known to go against the grain. Cole obviously plans on bringing the R&B house down with names like SZA and Teyana Taylor. But he’s also got something for the young bloods that need their rap fix with artists like YBN Cordae and Rich Tha Kid.

From the looks of it, he’s got a little something for everybody. You can get your tickets for the festival, set to take place Sept. 15, here.

Lloyd has finally stepped back onto the scene. After a long hiatus, he has released his 5th studio album “Tru.”

In the interview, we sit down with Lloyd and talk about how long it took to make the album and where the inspiration came from. He talks about “losing track of time” when he’s making music, and using his previous experiences, in music and otherwise, as learning curves.

The album features names like Sevyn Streeter, Lil’ Wayne, and Rick Ross. One of the tracks, “Infinity”,  most notably features his son River.

In the interview, he confirms that he will be going on tour with this album. Stating that’s where he feels most comfortable, “on stage.”

Dr. Dre and Xzibit teamed up to open a cannabis shop. The company has been successful overall, and that has sparked a fire under some of the investors. Dre and Xzibit reportedly teamed up with 3 other investors to open the shop. The investors are now claiming that after striking a deal with the pair to own 14.5% each, they’ve been cheated.

The breach of contract suit states that Dre and Xzibit, worked with the investors to open the shop. They agreed the invested would own a 14.5% share each. But the investors claim they never saw any of the profits. They agreed to sell their shares to Dre for $5 million apiece but never saw that either. The company which was valued at $50 million is now worth a staggering $170 million, and the investors want their fair share.

The investors are seeking their percentage, as well as monetary compensation.

After a groundbreaking career, filled with plenty of sales and accolades, Janet Jackson earned the Icon Award. At this years BMI R&B and Hip Hop Awards she got treated like the legend she is.

The awards show, which took place at The Woodruff Arts Center’s Symphony Hall in Atlanta, was jam-packed full of entertainment. After a tribute to Aretha Franklin, performed by Tamela Mann, and the presentation of a few awards came Janet’s portion of the show.

It kicked off with Ciara and a dancing troupe. Because Janet performed some of the best choreo of all time, this was very fitting. Ci-Ci and the  411 Dance Troupe, made up of 50 kids from all over the South, performed a routine put together by Sean Bankhead. Following Ciara was new artist H.E.R, who performed “Black Cat” and “Anytime, Anyplace”. And the performances continued with Jussie Smollett, Justine Skye, and Normani. Teyana Taylor wrapped it up and put the bow on top, with a tantalizing performance of “I Get So Lonely”. Missy Elliot delivered a speech for Janet as well. She touched on their relationship while tying in some of Janet’s lyrics for flair.

With the receiving of this award, Janet joins the likes, of Patti LaBelle, Babyface, and Al Green, to name a few. After such a successful and influential career, it’s about time. Have a look a Normani’s performance below.

Eminem has finally released new music. In the wake of his last album, which didn’t do nearly as well as it’s predecessors, it seems he’s getting back to the real Slim Shady. The surprise album has 13 tracks and features names like 2 Chainz,  Royce Da 5’9, and Phresher. Eminem also features artist Joyner Lucas on the album. Their track together ‘Lucky You’ is definitely a heavy hitter on the playlist. His track with Royce is definitely closer to the trap songs we hear from other mainstream artists. We’ve all known DJ Khaled to dibble and dabble in a little bit of everything. He is literally most well known for shouting his name on other people’s songs. And on top of that has some of the best collabs that we’ve ever heard. Khaled makes some of the best moves and investments. Whether it be music, or something else, he usually has the Midas touch. This furniture line rings of the same success.

The pieces are just as flamboyant and extra as he is. Boasting studded upholstery and gold accents, it is definitely lavish. But, if your looking for affordability this might not be your cup of tea. With just one couch coming in at $1,600 it is definitely on the pricier side. Although, if we know anything about DJ Khaled it’s that he’s all about quality. So I’m sure the pieces are well worth the price tag.

Everything on the site is designed by him. He’s got 5 collections all sporting a vast array of furniture and accessories. DJ Khaled has included pieces for every room including offices and dens, so it’s very universal. The biggest selling point of the whole line though? A Throne. DJ Khaled has given us regular folks a chance to be just as extra as he is. On the site, they describe the chair as “ICONIC,” and “truly a manifestation of success, wealth and a well-blessed home.”

The City Girls are making a name for themselves, as no-nonsense type of women. They’re blunt and very direct. Though Yung Miami is the only one on the scene right now, they’re both known for their unapologetic demeanor.

They’re fairly new in the game. And as we all know, celebrity skeletons are the first ones to come out of the closet. It was only a matter of time before their first scandal. In this case, some of Miami’s old tweets have popped back up to haunt her. Old tweets seem to be the bain of everyone’s existence at some point. This City Girl was no exception to the right of passage.

In the thread above, the Twitter user calls Miami out about her comments about Haitians. Most people came to her defense claiming that it was casual banter between Haitians and Americans, that is common in Miami, FL. Some said that the user was reaching because the tweets are from 2013, and that she needed to pick a side.  The tweets were pretty explicit and shocking, to say the least. She calls them ugly and jealous, freeloaders, and tells them they need to go back to Haiti. There are four screenshot pages of tweets dogging Haitian men and women. But it doesn’t stop there another user dug up a tweet of hers that was on the homophobic side as well. Claiming to beat her son if he ever displays and “gay” characteristics.

It seems she learned her lesson though. She issued a public apology for her words and said she loves all her City Girls AND Boys. She claims to be older and wiser, and that those tweets don’t reflect who she is now. We’ve all said some things we regret, so it looks like people are letting this one go. It’s no secret that Tyga has a rocky relationship with his label. If it’s not one thing, it’s the next. He’s not very close with his past labelmates. And compared to Nicki and Drake’s relationship with Wayne and Young Money, his is practically nonexistent. A few years ago he was quoted saying his label was holding him back. He expressed his frustrations with Lil’ Wayne and Birdman, and essentially ousted himself for the crew. Then a couple years after that he was released from his label by Birdman, the majority owner of the Cash Money/Young Money enterprise. Lil’ Wayne didn’t agree with this decision and he fought it, but eventually, Tyga found a home with Kanye.

Now just two years after his last beef with Young Money, he’s taking legal action against the label. According to his deal, he was signed in 2009 with the obligation for two albums. In 2012 he released his first, Careless World: Rise of the Last King. And in 2013 he released his second, Hotel California. Both albums earned a spot in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, but Tyga is claiming he didn’t see the fruits of that labor.

The amount he is suing for is unclear. Some are reporting he asking for no less than 1 million dollars, but other sites and sources are reporting he’s suing for a cool 10 million. It’s not the first time the label ran into legal issues with artists. They were sued by T-Pain and David Banner, also over a royalties discrepancy.

Tyga said it’s not personal though. His previous issues with Lil’ Wayne have no part in his actions, according to him.

Caresha, or Yung Miami, is the only member representing the group right now. The other half of the City Girls, Jatavia or JT, is serving a prison sentence for fraud. The 24 and 25 year old artists put in a lot of work before JT went in for prison, including documenting their last hours before she went in. That’s why when things started to go a little “right” it was disappointing. He became very vocal about his political views. They’re his opinions, so we let him have them. But then he went on TMZ and did that controversial interview, where he claimed: “slavery was choice”. The Black community expressed mixed feelings about the whole thing, but the consensus was that he lost his mind. Eventually, it became a meme on Twitter, but that didn’t change the gravity of what he said. Someone who we were so used to advocating for us, had seemingly flipped the script.

He danced around what he said for a while. People asked about it in interviews and it was either no explanation or no words at all. It was a clear miscommunication but we needed to hear that from him.

Here he sits down with the hosts of the WGCI morning show. In this interview, he makes a clear apology for what he said. There are tears, and hugs exchanged with Kendra G because his apology was so encompassing. He explains how he’s feeling about his career and how hard it’s been these last couple of years. Kanye mentions having a lot on his plate, and negativity with no support system. He becomes very emotional when explaining how unloved and alone he feels, having to stop and take a breather.

So, we can’t write Kanye off just yet. It looks like he’s heading for a reckoning and a comeback. Take a look at the video below.

Serena Williams stepped out and played her first game since birthing her daughter, in a sleek catsuit. Now we all know she’s fierce. She’s an amazing athlete who plays a competitive sport, but almost no one is her competition. She’s won more grand slams than she, or we can count. Williams is one of the most decorated Olympic Tennis players, second only to her sister Venus. And at this point, she’s earned the right as an athlete to play in what makes her comfortable.

But not everyone feels the same. The French Tennis Federation called out Williams for wearing the catsuit, stating it violated their dress code. Bernard Giudicelli even went so far as to call the suit disrespectful. The suit was designed by Nike to promote circulation. After the life-threatening birth of her daughter, this is a necessity for Williams. She’s prone to blood clots, and even the tiniest bit of overexertion without proper circulation could be harmful to her body. None of this seems to matter because they instituted a ban on the suit,  and are planning on making the dress code even more strict.

Anne White, a former tennis player, came to Serena’s defense. She too faced the same scrutiny in the 80s at Wimbledon. White mentioned that she’s a huge fan of Serena’s, and feels that women should be able to wear what they want. Especially in this case where there is a legitimate reason for the suit. There has been some speculation that the ban was racially motivated. Though it’s clear this move was sexist, White doesn’t believe it’s a matter of black vs. white.

Serena has remained as humble as she always is in the wake of this controversy. Gracefully, she busted out her designer tutu and is still kicking butt.

His accomplishments speak for themselves. Michael topped the charts for decades. He set record after record in the music industry. Some of those records he is still the keeper of. He performed for years after his last album and delivered great shows every time.

Michael started off in the Jackson 5, making his debut in 1969. His last album was released in 2001, meaning he made music for about 32 years, with every single solo album going platinum. Some of his albums even went diamond. Posthumously, Michael became the best selling artist of 2009.

Michael lives on through his children. Paris, Micheal, and Prince, as well as in all of our hearts. Happy Birthday Michael!

The cast of “Greenleaf” gathered together with their fans for the premiere of their upcoming season. The show, which has been on the air since 2016, kicked off its third season with a watch party at SCAD show in Atlanta. Hosted by OWN and V103, the event featured a Q&A with some of the cast, and of course, a taste of the drama set to unfold this season. Over 300 fans crowded the theater eager to watch the season make its debut.

This season on “Greenleaf” you can expect some surprises. The marital waters are stormy for the Bishop and Lady Mae. Mae reconnects with an old friend, played by Patti Labelle, to try to keep the church intact. Grace makes moves in silence at an attempt to save the Bishop from crashing and burning, while maintaining her strained relationship with Darius. The drama will no doubt be enough to keep you glued to the screen.

The 24th annual Black Women’s Expo came to Atlanta earlier this month attracting thousands of people. The middle stop on a three-part tour, starting in Chicago and winding down in Dallas, featured some big names. Faces like Angela Robinson (The Haves and the Have Nots), Kim Fields and Cynthia Bailey (The Real Housewives of Atlanta) were amongst the sea of powerful women.

Actress Regina King served as the keynote speaker, delivering an inspiring address on critical issues in the black community. She uses her role in the Netflix series Seven Seconds, to touch on topics like racism and police brutality. King is constantly utilizing her platform to keep the conversation on these issues alive. Noting its importance she states, “It is a really special thing when you have an opportunity for your artistry to meet your philanthropy.”

Also in attendance were actors Lamman Rucker and Deborah Joy Winans(Greenleaf). They held a Q & A forum following a preview of OWN’s new season of the show. R&B artist Ginuwine gave a live performance and meet and greet with the ladies in the audience.

The event provided a vast array of educational sessions, panels, and corporate and beauty displays. In 2019 the Black Women’s Expo will have celebrated 25 years strong. As one of the leading events for black women and their families, we can’t wait to see it come around next year.
