Cleveland Browns star receiver Josh Gordon and the Browns franchise find themselves in the midst of a compromising situation.
Now the franchise is faced with a decision on whether to release the troubled Gordon, who was arrested Saturday for a DWI. Gordon’s latest incident came over a month after he was cited for speeding back in late May. There was marijuana discovered in the vehicle as well.
These recent brush-ins with the law have many people questioning: Is Gordon throwing away an opportunity that most individuals dream of?
Gordon, despite troubles dealing with marijuana dating back to his collegiate days at Baylor University, had a breakout season last season and was mentioned amongst the elite receivers of the league with his league leading 1,646 receiving yards.
Now it looks like we may not even witness an encore of Gordon because of off-the-field antics that have plagued him throughout his young adult years.
Gordon was already facing a season-long suspension after a second failed drug test. The decision is pending the appeals process in court scheduled for late July.
It’s not hard to imagine that these two recent scrapes with the law involving would sabotage any hopes of Gordon returning to the field any time soon.
It’s a sad case for all parties involved. However, we all make decisions in life, good or bad, that can make or break our futures. Hopefully Gordon can use this extended period of time off the field to rehabilitate himself and get his head focused on what he really loves which is the game of football.
