This is the type of story we have heard about from time to time in the music business so learning that one of the hottest music producers is now under fire by a childhood friend and alleged co-producer of some of the hottest bangers of today’s hip hop sounds is no big surprise.
“Mustard on the beat, hoe!”
When you hear that line, two things are certain for sure. One, it’s about to be a hot track. Two, one of the hottest hit-makers helped produce the beat.
But, is DJ Mustard the one who should be getting the credit for some of your favorite records like Tyga’s “Rack City” or Big Sean’s “I Don’t F*ck With You”

According to music composer, Mike Free, he had a lot to do with the success of those tracks and more. Free alleges that DJ Mustard has not given him the credit that is due to him in the industry or monetarily.
Free, who claims to be a childhood friend of DJ Mustard, says that the two agreed to share composer and producer credits. Since DJ Mustard had the connections and Free had the beats, it seemed to be a perfect recipe for big hits and even bigger pockets.
According to Free in a recent lawsuit filing, DJ Mustard did not hold up to his end of the bargain, and all he wants is the respect and money that’s owed to him.
