TLC has announced that they are planning a release of a new album but has asked fans to donate via Kickstarter to help make it happen.
Remaining group members, Chilli and T-Boz, have already admitted that they have started recording songs for an untitled album. The singers expressed that while they have positive experiences working with labels to create their music, the group wanted to keep complete creative control over this album. TLC decided that the best way to make this project happen is with the help of their millions of fans.
In the 90’s the trio were arguably one of the most popular and successful groups of their time. TLC won 5 Grammy awards, had ten Top 10 US singles, and four multi-platinum albums. In 2002, the group suffered the loss of member Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes who was fatally injured in a car accident in Honduras. Since then the duo has been rather quiet but has dropped a song here and there.
Fans looking to donate can do so here. The album hasn’t received an official release date but the estimated delivery for some of the perks for donating is listed for September 2015.
