Malcolm X’s Grandson Malcolm Shabazz Killed In Mexico
The U.S. Embassy has confirmed that Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X, was killed in Mexico.
Conflicting reports are stating that Shabazz died Thursday morning after suffering internal injuries after being beaten and thrown from a room or either shot during a robbery attempt in Tijuana.
Publicist Terrie M. Williams, a close friend of the family, wrote on Twitter,
“I’m confirming, per U.S. Embassy, on behalf of family, the tragic death of Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X.Statement frm family 2 come.”
Family members have confirmed his death and that he was in Mexico but have not confirmed the exact location or circumstances of how Malcolm X’s grandson died.
In 1997, Malcolm Shabazz, was charged with setting his grandmother’s apartment on fire. The revered Mrs. Betty Shabazz died three weeks later on June 23rd from those injuries.
Young Malcolm was 12 years old at the time and plead guilty to second-degree arson and second-degree manslaughter charges. He was sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile facility.
