We like our Hip Hop artists to bubble up from the streets; putting in work to develop their craft and their fan base. Such is the case with 26 y/o Houston up-and-comer, Chucky Orbitz, who, for the past few years has germinated through the underground scene and slowly, but ever so surely, making a name for himself. I say slowly because life has a way of throwing us curveballs, sometimes just when we least need them. For Chucky that came with the deportation of his single, Nigerian-born mother forcing Chucky and his siblings to focus soley on keeping body and soul together whilst dealing with the nightmare that is our immigration system. Although Chucky had just won a major talent contest which afforded him the opportunity to perform in front of notable music executives, he was forced to put his musical aspirations on hold and focus entirely on being the man of the house.
2012 saw Chucky release his “Son of Houston”project which spawned successful tracks with other local success stories Doughbeezy and Marcus Manchild as well as a host of major venue performances. Since the joyful reunion with his mother in 2013, Chucky has once again been afforded the luxury of putting his all into the music career his heart is set on. The whole experience has made him grateful; not only for once again having that opportunity but for the grind put in by those that have come before him and what it took for them to make it. It’s a process he can both relate to and truly appreciate. With that in mind, Chucky has plans to release his newest project, “Trillmatic”, driven out of pure respect for the greatness that is Nas and his opus, with a Texas twist. You can hear the intro after the jump and we hope you enjoy it.
