One of the largest cross-genre musical festivals in the Southeast took place in Atlanta at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, over the weekend. In celebration of its 5 year anniversary, the One MusicFest featured live performances from Nas. Kendrick Lamar, Jhene Aiko, Method Man & Redman, Amel Larriuex, Bilal, Alice Smith, Daley,  and more.

Known for its interactive block party experience, guest enjoyed nationally and internationally DJs, food trucks, and vending from other local businesses. Also, this year One MusicFest’s non-profit partner was the “Just Feed One” campaign in conjunction and BlackCelebritiyGiving.com and I Care Atlanta. Attendees were required to donate at least one can of non-perishable food that will be available to feed over 80 shelters across Atlanta.

“There is a lack of representation for soul, progressive hip-hop, alternative and rock, represented under one roof, in the format of music festivals in Atlanta”, states J Carter, ONE Musicfest Producer.  “We have noticed that while there are many pockets of individuals that share taste in the same music, rarely do you see them share in this together. ONE Musicfest was created with the idea of ‘music as the universal language. Over time we aim to grow this fest into a phenomenon and bring together different sectors of individuals through a unique music platform.”

Kendrick blessed the stage and crowd with hits from his debut album “Good Kid: M.A.A.D City” like “Poetic Justice,” and “Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Still celebrating the 20th anniversary for his debut “Illmatic,” Nas gave the crowd classic cuts from the legendary album as well as fan favorites like “If I Ruled The World,” “Hate Me Know,” and “One Mic.”

Jhene Aiko performed in her signature crop top and “hippie” skirt, fully engaged with the audience, she belt out known songs like “Bed Peace” and a few singles from her new album “Souled Out,” like “The Pressure.” Also, she rapped a Kendrick verse from “Stay Ready” and short tribute to Tupac.
