The wait is finally over with the release of Summer Walker’s “No Love” extended version featuring recording artists Sza and Cardi B . where the rap princess actually sings on the track. When the clock struck midnight fans of the artists began tweeting the song and praising all involved for not disappointing. Each artist brought their own melody which makes the song even better and the juxtapositioning of Summer and SZA in the music video was an extra added treat.

The Southeast’s largest annual urban progressive music festival came to an end on Sept. 9. This year’s festival boasted big names like 2 Chainz, T.I., Nas, Miguel, and so many more. With a diverse range of musical selections ranging from hip-hop to alternative, ONE Musicfest is one of the most highly anticipated events in the area.
With a total of over 40,000 attendees over the course of the weekend, the event was a huge success, to say the least. Not only was there live performances, by Atlanta natives and global artists alike, they even had lounges, cocktail tastings, arts & crafts, food trucks, and a vendor market.
The festival has come to an end this year, but follow @Onemusicfest or check out their website here for information on next year’s event.
Here’s a recap of some of the performances.

After a few minutes of technical difficulties, and a sincere apology, r&b’s It girl hit the stage with her song “Say It Again”. Dressed in a red, white, and blue tracksuit, and her signature shades. H.E.R. has been on the scene for a while but for many people in the crowd that may have been the first time they’ve seen her face. In a time where looks are playing a heavier role in the industry than talent, H.E.R. reminds us what’s really important.
Her soulful voice and affinity for multiple instruments makes her a refreshing sight for eyes and ears. Her vocals got the chance to show off during “Best Part,” her duo with Daniel Cesear, one of the few artists shes collaborated with during her up and coming career. Things got hype during her set when she performed her song “2.” And she showcased one of her many talents during her rendition of Foy Vance’s “Make It Rain.”
Overall, despite the tardiness, the set was excellent.
Big Sean knows how to get people on their feet and this was evident in his performance. Big Sean has some Atlanta roots, and he paid homage to them by shouting out his late grandmother who “repped Atlanta hard.” He also took the time to tribute Mac Miller, who passed away from a drug overdose just a day before the festivities.
It wasn’t long before he got energetic. Sounding off hits like “Big Bank”, “Blessed”, and “Clique”, really made the performance noteworthy. He did do quite a bit of talking during his set, but it was all motivational. Touching on the Nike ordeal with Colin Kaepernick and following your own dreams. He wouldn’t be Big Sean if you didn’t make sure he touched the hearts of his audience.

Atlanta natives, St. Beauty, hit the stage and had just as much fun as the crowd. Though they performed to a smaller audience early in the day, no doubt they’ll be back for bigger and better things. Their set included syncronized choreo to “Caught”, and a collaborative effort with rapper Deonte Hitchcock for “Waves.” At the end, they tributed “Lucid Dreams” to Mac Miller, Aretha Franklin, and other artists who’ve recently passed.

Nas brought the fire to the stage with his performance. Kicking it off with the one-two punch of “Not for Radio” and “The World is Yours.” Nas is reminiscent of older hip hop. He reminded us of this with “N.Y. State of Mind” which featured on his 1994 album “Illmatic.” Coming up with the likes of Jay-Z and Ice Cube, his rap is of a different caliber. But with hits like “Cops Shot The Kid” he lets us know he still has more to say.

If you did not know, Big Boi is working with Phantogram on upcoming joint EP called Big Grams. The EP releases this Friday and ‘Goldmine Junkie’ serves as their third release together. The formula seems to be Big Boi providing the rapping with Phantogram on the hook as in their previous released songs ‘Lights On’ and ‘Fell in the Sun’.
The EP contains a total of 7 tracks and if everything heard so far is an indication, then this might become one of the best projects to come out in what has been a stellar year for hip hop musically.

Award winning artist Big Boi narrates a video about recording at the iconic Atlanta studio, Stankonia, exclusively for the Converse Rubber Tracks studio takeover.
“Stankonia is what we would like to call the place where all funky things come from,” said Big Boi during his brief narrative in the video. He talks about how he started recording in the studio with his group mate, Andre 3000, when they were 16. The “Speakerboxxx” rapper revealed that all of the hits were recorded there from Stankonia to Idlewild, including the hits “So Fresh So Clean,” “Hey Ya,” “Ms. Jackson,” “The Way You Move,” and many more.
Last month Converse announced the global launch of a new program that will give aspiring musicians a once in a lifetime opportunity to record original music at one of 12 of the greatest recording studios in music history at no cost. So far the program has received thousands of applications and will continue to receive them through Wednesday, June 24. Selected artist will be invited to record at one of their top three studios in September.
Applicants must be at least 18 years or older and any music genre is accepted. Participating studios other than Stankonia include Abbey Road Studios in London, Tuff Gong in Kingston, Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, the original Converse Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn and many more.
Converse Rubber Tracks was created out of the brand’s desire to give back to the music community and provide opportunities for artist who couldn’t afford to record in a studio. With their original 5,200 square foot studio in Brooklyn, New York, Converse has helped over 900 emerging artist record their music with a team of experienced engineers at no cost. Converse Rubber Tracks is a platform that allows artist to come in and fully release their creative spirit and retain the rights to own their music.

Outkast has recently been busy with what may be their final tour. The Atlanta duo reunited back in April at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Fest and since has been touring the world in celebration of their 20th anniversary as a musical group. It was recently announced that Outkast will be taking their victory lap where it all started. This week Big Boi and Andre 3000 announced their plans for a homecoming concert back in Atlanta. The event will be held at Centennial Olympic Park on September 27th.
“It’s only right that we give the hometown what we’ve been giving the rest of the world, Atliens in ATL, homecoming! Festival Killers,” comments Big Boi in a statement made to Billboard.
“Coming from Atlanta gave us the freedom to be whatever we ever wanted to be because no one was paying attention. Now that everyone is, we want to say thank you,” added André 3000.
The duo definitely has a big place in their hearts for Atlanta and their appreciation for all that their hometown has done for their movement shows. If you are in the Atlanta area, this is definitely a show that you don’t want to miss. From the flyer you can see that some special guest will be in attendance as well.
Tickets are not on sale as of yet, but you can go to Outkastatllast.com for more information.

The Kings reunited last night as Outkast rocked at the 2014 Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
Big Boi and Andre 3000 were definitely worth the wait as they performed for over an hour and a half but Coachella dropped the ball as they cut the lights out on Hip-Hop’s greatest duo and didn’t allow them to close out the show with a bang.
Coachella’s lack luster crowd also didn’t appear to know that they were standing in the presence of Hip-Hop royalty.
These festival performances are cool but the millions of fans who would’ve appreciated the show saw the iconic performance on the Internet.
Watch as The Kings earn their crown now.

Reported by Dennis Byron
Hip Hop Enquirer broke the story. Earlier today, Mrs. Sharon Benjamin Hodo, the mother of rap superstar Andre “3000” Benjamin passed away in her sleep according to a close family member. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Mrs. Sharon Benjamin, affectionately known as “Ma Benjaman, Ms. B, and Nana,” died at the age of 58 and was a key player in the lives of OutKast during their formative teenage years as they grew into adulthood and served as one of the managers for “her boys” earlier in their career.
The wife of New Morning Light Baptist Church pastor Robert L Hodo of Conley, Georgia, Mrs. Hodo was also a successful real estate agent in the Atlanta area and was a life coach and game giver to many artists that came up in Tha A.
What makes this even sadder is Dre celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday.
Again our condolences go out to Dre, Big Boi, her grandson Seven and the entire Benjamin-Hodo family.
R.I.P. Mrs. Sharon Benjamin Hodo.
Hip-Hop Enquirer will keep you posted as the story develops.
