Last week Hip Hop Enquirer reported that The Wu-Tang Clan announced that they would be releasing only a single copy of their upcoming album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. To add to the already unusual release, The Wu-Tang Clan is planning to sell the one copy for a whopping $1 million dollars.
The album, which is encased in an engraved silver and nickel box, features 31 songs and is sure to bring that distinctive Wu-Tang sound, but who in their right mind would pay a million dollars?
The RZA told Billboard this week that he’s received several million dollar offers for the album.
“Offers came in at $2 million, somebody offered $5 million yesterday. I’ve been getting a lot of emails. Some from people I know, some from people I don’t know, and they’re also emailing other members of my organization. I don’t know how to measure it, but it gives us an idea that what we’re doing is being understood by some. And there are some good peers of mine also, who are very high-ranking in the film business and the music business, sending me a lot of good will. It’s been real positive.”
