The winners of the $10,000 Stroll Off Competition Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated along with Tiwa Works are all smiles on stage at the end of the competition, at the 19th Annual Atlanta Greek Picnic.

Newly reaccredited Morris Brown College was once again the place to be for thousands of HBCU students, alumni, Black sororities, fraternities, and lovers of the HBCU college culture, as they were the host for the 19th Annual Atlanta Greek Picnic (AGP). The 5-day cultural and historical event series took place from June 7-11, 2023 at Morris Brown College, 643 M.L.K. Jr Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30314. In their nearly two decades of existence, AGP would like to not only continue to incorporate rich tradition, build community, and share the values of Divine 9 brotherhood/sisterhood but to also bring awareness about the importance of Mental Health in our community. AGP 2023 was a holistic celebration of black excellence, black culture, and the colleges that activate that culture via undergraduate studies and the Greek letter organizations that all have service to others in their founding. All new for this year, AGP provided safe spaces throughout the campus for attendees to speak with licensed clinical therapists.

It was important to provide more avenues for people of color to seek mental help and to normalize getting therapy. Coming off the success of the Soul Healing Center at the R&B Soul Picnic, another event produced in association with Tiwa WorksAGP had a “Soul Healing Center” onsite where attendees received complimentary 6-10 minute “Soul Healing Chats” with licensed therapist including Joi Britt (LCSW), Jaslyn Bailey (MSW-G, LCSW), Nishee Moore (LAPC), Kiara Smith (LCSW) and Rosetta Delancy (LMSW) curated by The Resource Guild.

Tiwa Works, the founder of AGP, had the same goal each year for the annual picnic.  “The goal is always continued unity, one of the best summer experiences, and continuing to build friendships and bonds that last a lifetime. That is what AGP continues to build and we expect our audience to continue to celebrate each other, and our culture, this year we looked to additionally provide viable solutions to the financial literacy and mental health challenges we are seeing in our community” – Tiwa Works (Founder of AGP)

Attendees this year experienced 5 days full of engaging activities. Kicking off AGP was a D9 Economics Fireside Chat Career & Networking Mixer on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, hosted by Tiwa Works (Investor and Founder of AGP), Jessica Myers (Real Estate Developer), James T. Jones (Expert Business Consult & Entrepreneur), and Eric Lee Usher (Entrepreneur & Founder of Prophytes) at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs. Following the mixer there was an R&B Experience at Whiskey MistressThursday, June 8, 2023AGP took over Underground Atlanta with an AGP Block Party, where some of the hottest DJs in the country continued the party all night. Last year there were over 2,000 attendees with drinks and bottles flowing, attendees not only experienced the same vibes this year but they received more! Friday, June 9, 2023, was the Social Media Hangout + Brunch experience on the rooftop of Suite Food Lounge. Guests indulged in food, drinks, music, hookah, and an exclusive view of downtown Atlanta with AGP social media friends, including Prophytes Be Like Pyramids and Diamonds, and Black Greek Lifestyle. Friday night was the official welcome to Atlanta – Official AGP Kick-off Party that took place at Opulence Lounge. Saturday, June 10, 2023, began with the AGP Cares Community Service Project which the 19th Annual Atlanta Greek Picnic followed. Attendees were immersed in Black culture and the HBCU experience, including vendors, food trucks, and live music that flooded the campus of Morris Brown College. One of the main attractions at the AGP was the annual Stroll Off where Divine 9 sororities and fraternities compete for a $10,000 prize! The winner of this year’s Stroll Off were the sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. The closeout for the weekend for AGP, Sunday, June 11, 2023, was a live streaming of church followed by Sundaze Brunch at The V Restaurant & Lounge and concluding with Sundaze- Closeout Day Party. The AGP supporting partners this year were The Greek Picnic Network and Prophytes APP. There were several on-site activations from supporting sponsors, including Positive Impact Health Centers, My Black is Beautiful, and Crown Royal.
