Men’s fashion week is currently taking place in Europe, and we’re already getting word that as of yet, the two stand out collections of the season belong to Prada and Givenchy.

And indeed, what a stand up & show out collection there was to be seen at the house that Miuccia built in Milan! The stage was set, particularly on 20 x 35 meter carpet in red, white, and black which was an early indication that these men mean business! And where exactly were these men marching their way to you ask? Why to change the world of course! Because the good Lord knows that when you hold a highly coveted position as part of the global 1% elite, you’ll need the shoes, top coats, and dress suits required of a leading man! Speaking of leading men, a handful of red carpet ready gents made appearances.  Adrian Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Bell, and the great Gary Oldman were welcomed to the sound of thunderous applause by the audience.

And while Prada’s man had an otherworldly, old school refined feeling, Riccardo Tisci drew on childhood obsessions for his show at Givenchy in Paris. Program notes indicated that the designer’s two primary interests while growing up were the American flag and the Minotaur. The American references came in the form of boxy jackets and bold striped sweaters, some dashed with stars. These items were paired with either sharply cut trousers or kilt-like skirts. Somehow it all came together to form one helluva hip and instant-cool collection for the urban warrior. We can already see the like of Kanye West sidewalk strutting in any of these looks.

We’ll keep you updated as always on what’s happening from the catwalk to the sidewalk and everything in between!
