NBC takes on two new judges for the next season of the singing-competition, The Voice. Sources confirm that R&B Superstar Usher and Columbian singer/songwriter and dancer Shakira will replace singers Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera in Season 2 of The Voice in January. Though the two (Cee Lo and XTina) are said to return as the hosts for the show’s fifth cycle. Will the host-change affect the show ratings? Will Usher and Shakira increase or decrease the value of the singing-competition? In the end, guess NBC always has the NFL football to fall back on.
Recently in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Christina Aguilera described her gig on The Voice as “kind of like a side project” and elborated on the affect the show has had on her music career and family life. “[I thought], ‘It’ll keep me close to my son [Max, 4] in L.A. I don’t have to travel,” she said. “Then it kind of took off, and there goes my free time!”
As for Cee Lo Green, sources say he’s recently teamed up with NBC with plans to create a sitcom. The sitcom is said to be based on Green’s real-life relationship with his ex-wife and their children, and is being written by Ali Leroy (Everybody Hates Chris).
