There use to be a time in Hip-Hop when artists really said something and addressed society’s ills. With ignorance being saluted at an all time high, thank God for MCs like
    Lupe Fiasco.

The Chicago rapper has recorded a new track called “Jonylah Forever” dedicated to the memory and family of 6-month old Jonylah Watkins, who was tragically shot 5 times while her father changed her diaper. With the heart wrenching track, Lupe talks about the baby as if she had lived and went on to become a doctor in life.

Jonylah Watkin’s father, Jonathan, was also hit and was the intended target as he changed his daughter’s diaper in his van. The 28-year-old Jonathan Watkins is also alleged to have had gang ties and was a member of the Gangster Disciples.

After his release from the hospital, Jonathan is said to be cooperating with police to solve the murder.

The deaths and gang violence in the streets of Chicago has long been an epidemic that can no longer be ignored.

    Lupe Fiasco stated,

“She lives as long as we do. She will live forever. God bless your soul and the family you left behind. We Love You.”

Jonylah’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. next Tuesday at New Beginnings Church in the South Side neighborhood of Woodlawn. The wake will be at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. next Monday at Leak Funeral Home.

An $11,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooting suspect. Watch the latest update on the tragic murder below and listen to Lupe’s dedication.
