Ohio resident, Matthew Cordle, recorded a dramatic confession and plea about driving drunk. The 22-year-old met in an accident while going the wrong way on the highway, which killed 61-year-old Vincent Canzani.
In the 3.5 minute video, Cordle explains what happened the night of the accident and pleaded with others to think first before they decide to drive after drinking.
“My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani. This video will act as my confession,” he said. “By making this video, I know exactly what it means,” he says in the clip. “I’m giving prosecutors everything they need to put me away for a very long time. But I’m willing to take that sentence, for just one reason, so I can pass this message on to you. I beg you… I’m begging you, please don’t drink and drive.”
In August Cordle reached out to Ohio-based website, becauseIsaidIwould.com to produce the confession which is now one of the latest videos featured on the site. BecauseISaidIwould.com is a site that seeks to make a better world by encouraging “positive change and acts of kindness” through keeping promises.
