It’s difficult to understand why anyone would want to keep the Confederate flag around.  The flag is associated with one of the greatest holocausts in human history, slavery.  But because black history is often wiped out of the textbooks, some refuse to remember how terrible the institution of slavery actually was.

Make no mistake, there are still people who believe that people of color should still be in slavery but this latest attempt by a racist group has surely ruffled a bunch of feathers.

A group has decided that they want to resurrect this painful past by lifting a giant confederate flag up on I-95 in Virginia.  The group, near Chesterfield County, has put up a 10-foot by 15-foot flag on a 50-foot flagpole.

The group says that their goal is to “remind drivers of our honorable confederate history and heritage.”

Thousands of people have signed a petition demanding that the group take the flag down.

A rival group, United RVA, has posted a giant US flag in Richmond as a counter protest.

Despite the ugly history of the confederate flag, there are those who believe that it simply represents the proud heritage of the south.   Many, however, see it as a symbol of the same kind of hatred that existed during the Nαzi regime.  What do you think?  Does the group have a right to have their own interpretation of the flag?

If the group cherishes the confederate flag, does that mean that they wish the south had won the Civil War?  If that’s true, this also means that the group wishes that slavery had never been abolished.  Now that’s a scary thought.

Well, at least the group was not wearing white sheets right?
