Five more bodies were discovered Wednesday from the wreckage of the Sewol, the South Korean ferry that sank last month. The discovery of the additional five bodies brings the total body count from the ferry disaster to 281.
Most of the deceased and missing individuals are students from the same high school who were aboard the ferry en route to Jeju, a resort island in South Korea, for a field trip. The ferry capsized and sank off the southwestern coast of the country on April 16.
The catastrophe has a massive amount of outrage and is attributed to the negligence of safety standards and failure to rescue more students. Since the incident the ferry crew members and company staff that operated the boat have been arrested and are facing criminal charges.
