The relationship between Jay Z and Lil Wayne is more “on again-off again” than the trial of Chris Brown.  On the YMCMB captain’s preview of his latest track, “D’usse”, he disses references Jay Z.

“Hov, f@ck wit’ your boy,” Wayne says on the track.  This is definitely a different route for Wayne as we have seen him indirectly reference the Roc-Nation commander-in-chief before in a different light.

The feud between Jay Z and Lil Wayne seemed to originate when Jay Z said he was going to retire.  At that time Wayne was doing his thing and he felt like if Jay Z was retiring, that now it was his turn to take his seat at the top as the “Greatest Rapper in the Game”.  That all changed when Jay Z pulled a Michael Jordan and unretired to take his throne back.  From there, the tensions seemed to rise.  However, amidst all of the rumors, the two got together in 2007 for Jay’s American Gangster album.  Lil Wayne was featured on the “Hello Brooklyn 2.0” banger and Jay Z then returned the favor on “Mr. Carter” from Lil Wayne’s 2008 album, Tha Carter III.  At this time it seemed like all was well between the Carters.

As the time went by, both artists strived to cement their name as the “Greatest Rapper Alive”.  The problem with that, however, is that there can only be one king.  Soon things began to change and again the tension raised between the Carters.

After going back and forth on who makes the most money coupled with a little instigation from Baby, Jay Z and Lil Wayne finally took the gloves off.

Jay Z decided to respond to Wayne and Baby with his collaborative single with Kanye West entitled “Ham”.  On this track Jay raps, “I’m like, ‘Really, half-a-billi?’ Ni**a, really, you got Baby money/ Keep it real with ni**as, ni**as ain’t got my lady money.”

Wayne decided to fire back on his “I’m Good” track off Tha Carter IV album.  “Talkin’ bout Baby money? I got your baby money/ Kidnap your b*tch, get that ‘how much you love your lady’ money,” Lil Wayne raps.

Wayne also took jabs at Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne.  “I met a bad red bone, I took the b*tch home.  I asked her what she want to watch, she said surely not The Throne,” Wayne rapped.

Hov went back in on Wayne with his “La Familia” track off the Magna Carter…Holy Grail album.  “Wanna kidnap wifey / Good luck with that bruh / You must gonna hide your whole family / What you think we wearing black for / Ready for that war / Ready for that war ready / You ain’t ready, yo, you radio,” Jay Z raps.

As it appears, the feud is real, but is it really beef?
