Talk show host Arsenio Hall is once again the former host of “The Arsenio Hall Show” as CBS Television Distribution cancels the show just after one season.  The late night show was once a highlight in the black community in the early 90s and was even renewed for a second season this time around. According to statements released today, despite the fact that the show was renewed, the show will not go on.

“Unfortunately, The Arsenio Hall Show will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” a spokesperson for CBS Television Distribution said. “Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

Hall also spoke out on the cancelation of his show.

“When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge,” continued Hall in a statement. “I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

The show will definitely leave a void in late night talk and will surely be missed.  Now the question is, “Who will be the next African-American actor/comedian/entertainer to grace the late night talk show stage?”  Whoever he or she may be, we need them, and we need them now.
