Yesterday, BET networks announced the premiere date for its acclaimed talent competition series “Apollo Live” season 2. Executive produced by Academy Award-Winner Jamie Foxx, the series features Grammy Award-Winner Gladys Knight, hip hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh and R&B hit maker Michael Bivins as mentors to hopeful contestants. Hosted by comedian Tony Rock, the 10-episode series premieres Tuesday, July 1st at 10 PM ET/PT.
The show is a renewed spin on the classic variety show “Amateur Night”. Each APOLLO LIVE contestant will face an audience who will decide their fate with either roaring applause or heartbreaking boos leading to their dismissal. The hour-long show will also feature some guest appearances and performances throughout the season by Chrisette Michele, Jennifer Holliday, Kierra Sheard, Musiq Soulchild, Tye Tribbett, Lalah Hathaway, Marsha Ambrosius, Mint Condition, Tamia, and ASAP Ferg featuring ASAP Rocky.
