Love Dollhouse consist of three very talented young women from Detroit who may just be the industry’s next up and coming girl group. It’s been awhile since we saw anything that compared to TLC or Destiny’s Child, but Love Dollhouse members Ryan, Jasmine, and Chelsea are making their claim for fame and the sky is the limit for these young ladies.
The ladies new track “Can I” is a smooth slice of timeless pop and R&B that will appeal to listeners of all ages. “Can I” is a perfect introduction to Love Dollhouse’s lush, elastic harmonies, slinky hooks, and soulful grooves. Lyrically, the song upends the male/female dynamic by putting the girl in the power seat. “The girl has her eye on a guy, and she’s flirting, telling him to come on over to her side,” says Ryan. Chelsea adds, “She’s saying, ‘I like you. I’m pursuing you,’ which we feel has a bigger message. We’re telling girls that it’s okay to take initiative. It’s okay to be free and express your love, and still be classy.”
The girls come with a message of strength, female empowerment, and positivity and it has paid off with their recent signing to Steve Rifkind and Russell Simmons’ All Def Music label and Capitol Records. “I think I speak for all three of us when I say that we feel pure bliss and relief,” says Chelsea. “Leading up to this moment, we’ve all been through a lot. We’ve had setbacks, on our own and as a group, and it’s going to be so liberating and rewarding to see all the hard work pay off,” says Ryan and Jasmine.
