Robert Williams aka Meek Mill had to learn the hard way that the criminal justice system is not the biggest fans of his music especially when he earns probably more than the judge that has just sentenced him up to six months in jail for what they classified as a violation of his probation stemming from a earlier arrest for guns and weapons charges.

Just days ago, the rapper along with his attorney Gary Silver appeared before Common Pleas Judge Genece E. Brinkley to try to convince her that justice would be served by the rapper remaining free. While the hearing lasted close to four hours, the judge was not moved by their arguments. She cited the fact that the rapper had changed his phone number and failed to provide his probation officer with a reachable contact number. In addition, the prosecutor in the case alleged that the rapper was taunting him on twitter and calling him a racist. The other apparent issue was the fact that Meek Mill was scheduling shows and appearances without having it cleared with the court which they viewed it as a direct violation.

Some would argue that because Meek Mill was working a legitimate job and these appearances was part of his work, why then violate him for this?

MMG’s head honcho Rick Ross released an official statement to MTV about his artist plight:

“I created MMG years ago, my desire was to create a space where the most talented artists in the world could be nurtured and supported. With that came a commitment. I vowed to support these artist, through the good and the bad. Every individual signed to MMG is not just an artist, they are my family. And with family you ride, or you die. Yesterday, my brother, Meek Mill ran into some unfortunate legal issues. It happens. However, his team, our team, will continue to execute Meek’s plan as close to schedule as possible. His album is coming. We ask that the fans and the media continue to support him and his music during this time. He’ll be home soon. ‘Dreams Are Worth More Than Money,’ and family is worth more than Everything. MMG FOR LIFE.”

Atlanta via Philadelphia DJ Drama shared his opinion on the rumored beef Meek Mill and Wale have:

“Yeah, I mean, you know, I would tell those guys to keep it off Twitter,” he said. “Families quarrel all the time. You know what it makes me think of? It makes me think of, what would have been like fifteen years ago or twenty years ago if people would have had social media. There’s so much we missed from different eras because there was no social media. What would Beanie Sigel have said in 2002 and 2003? What would Kiss and Sigel been going back and forth talking about if there was Twitter at the time? That’s what it makes me think of, all the stuff we missed in the game because we didn’t have social media back then.

“But, you know, those guys, they’re both friends of mine,” he added. “I would just say, ‘Hey, let’s just go box it out.’”

The judge left Meek Mill with the following words before he was taken into custody:

“Of all the people that have come before me, I knew you had the talent to be as successful as Jay Z but not only have you let me down, you have let your fans down.”

Unless the judge has a change of heart, the rapper will likely remain in prison for at least 90 days.
