Chicago and music have a long history together, native artists like BJ The Chicago Kid look for music of the past for inspiration when creating. Inspired by Anthony Hamilton’s 2003 single “Comin’ From Where I’m From,” BJ collaborates with J. Ivy, who is mainly known for working on Kanye West’s debut album ” The College Dropout.”
“I tried to be good/Tried to keep from trouble/Tried to live fast/Trying to make good on hustle.”
“Where I’m From” will be released on the upcoming album “Lead Never Follow.” Check out the song below.
