ATL native & super-producer, Zaytoven, who adds a true meaning to the word “super”, sat down with DJ Smallz to enlighten the unaware of his current success in the theatric line of work. Zaytoven’s primary accomplishments come from his genius as being a Grammy award-winning & platinum hip-hop music producer, who’s earned credits from long-time collaborator Gucci Mane & a lot of the Atlanta spitters, DJ Drama, Usher, Young Jeezy, Nicki Minaj, & more.
About a year & a half ago, the newly inducted movie producer released his latest director’s cut “Birds of a Feather” via Netflix & iTunes. After being asked about his thoughts on releasing a film exclusively through Netflix versus iTunes, which is the route that was taken with his latest Christmas Day release film Finesse, he replied saying
“Netflix, definitely. Because the bootleggers is sold out. Netflix is where i got the most surprising people watching”
He also shared that throughout the process of using Netflix as his primary tool to building his movie catalog, it’s most challenging downfall is having to wait for months well after the movie has completed filming for it to finally be released. Nevertheless, the revenue still speaks volumes.
I know how to kind of spend a certain amount of money, you know, to make another type of money. We almost quadrupled what i spent on making it.
Expect a new movie every year, without a doubt. He assuringly let Smallz know that he will continue creating new movies annually, more so for the love of the art & the enjoyment of acting. Future films are already in the works.. Zaytoven is clearly trying to stay ten steps ahead of the competition. I’d say he’s doing an exceptional job at doing so..
