One of the biggest radio personalities on the radio, Big Boy, is being sued by the communication group that ran his show for decades when he allegedly breached his contract.
Emmis Radio LLC, discovered Big Boy about 20 years ago when he was working as a bodyguard and turned him into one of the biggest radio personalities on the air today. Big Boy, whose real name is Kurt Alexander, contract was expiring on Feb. 28 and the was planning on leaving Power 106 FM for iHeartMedia.
Big Boy was already making $1.45 million a year plus bonuses and a car but was reportedly going to make $3.5 million plus other royalties and perks, including the use of a private jet with iHeartMedia. The suit claims that Emmis has the right under the existing deal to be able to match a competitors offer and keep him. Emmis claims that it did just that but Big Boy said he was leaving anyway.
Emmis filed a suit seeking $5 million in monetary damages preliminary and permanent injunctions to prevent Big Boy from joining iHeartMedia.
