Ice-T announced the first ever Art of Rap Music Festival will take place this summer in California. The festival is set for two days on July 18th and 19th, in which Ice-T is calling it, “the most prolific and essential hip-hop festival ever”. That quote appears justifiable as the line up features some of the most prolific hip hop artists from each region and time periods. Rappers such as Rakim, Warren G, Bone Thugs N’ Harmony, EPMD, and Big Daddy Kane just to name a few will be performing. Ice-T and The Game will be the headliners for the event. The Art of Rap Music Festival will also include graffiti artists, b-boys, car shows and freestyle battles.
This festival is an overall celebration of the hip hop culture. It shares its name with Ice-T’s 2012 documentary, Something to Nothing: The Art of Rap, which chronicled the rise of rap music to global prominence. The July 18th show will be at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California and those tickets go on sale April 24th. The Sunday show (July 19th) will be held at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California and tickets for that show go on sale May 1st.
