Local Virginia news station’s WDBJ reporter Allison Parker, 24, and her cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were shot dead on live television. The alleged gunman name is Vester Lee Flanagan, 41, and he was a former employee for WDBJ under the name Bryce Williams. Parker and Ward were filming a live interview around 6:45 a.m.
The two were interviewing Vicki Gardner, who was shot in the neck but looks to survive. Ward’s fiance’ was in the control room at the time of the shooting and had to watch it unfold. Flanagan looks to be a disgruntled worker who live tweeted the murder. The account has since been suspended. Sources have also said the shooter is one of the victims ex-boyfriend, presumably Parker. Flanagan alleged that Allison made racist comments towards him which may have been a motivating factor. He also claimed that Ward and Parker reported him to HR and there is no word on the reasoning for the alleged report.
WDBJ General Manager Jeff Marks gave a statement to MSNBC News saying that Vester Flanagan was ‘difficult’ to work with and filed many lawsuits after every news station he worked for, called him a ‘serial litigator’. Flanagan has shot himself while being chased by authorities.
